Almost every cat owner has the classic 'feather on a stick' toy. It's always great fun for the cats but the toy get's torn and detroyed really fast.

In this instructable I'm going to show you how you can easily make a replacement for the head that is also more durable.

Supplies

  • ~1,5 m of jute rope
  • gift wrapping band

Cut It to Size

Start by cutting the rope and gift wrapping band into abourt 25 cm long pieces. Don't make it too thick or it will be difficult to knot in the next step.

Feel free to use other bands or string you have lying around but always make sure it's somewhat durable so your cat won't rip it apart and/or swallow a piece.

Tie a Knot

Tie a knot right in the middle of the bundle and make sure it is really tight. Pull un the seperate strings to tighten it and make sure they won't get pulled out.

Prepare the Connecting String

Take another piece of jute rope or string and make a slip knot.

To do that, hold one end of the string, make a loop and pull through the free end of the string. Now tighten the knot and you're done. If you pull on the longer end of the string (the one you're not holding) the loop should tighten itself.

Tying the Toy Together

Now 'fold' the toy in half, pull the slip knot over the big knot and tighten it.

Additionally I wrapped the longer end of the string around the knot another time and tied both ends together again.

Play!

Now you can either use the attachment string and tie it to the end of a stick or just give it your cat to play with
