Replacement Chain Tensioner

Bought a second-hand bike, a few months ago. Which looked still very good. This one will last for a while, I thought by myself. But after a few weeks the chain came off. Removed the chain case and put the chain back on the gears. But then I saw that the wheel had moved. Standing at an angle causing the chain come to loose. And ran off the gears. I also saw that the cable tensioner was missing. But the other side still had it, see photo above.

It was impossible without a chain tensioner. To fasten the wheel and keep the chain under tension. Tried once, but after a week the chain came off again. So I think I'll buy a new one. After some searching on the internet, this type (Gazelle Chain Tensioner 57mm Super Sport Banana) was no longer available. Found a few site, but out of stock :(

What now? Throw away a good bicycle, despite it is old model. Because a small piece of plastic is broken or missing. That is a real shame!

Yes, why not use a 3D printer. Ideal for such repairs. Got my caliper out of the closet. And that chain tensioner that was still on the bike.

These pictures show the printed (red) and original version (black). Not exactly the same. But that is not necessary. The 3D print made a bit thicker here and there compared to the original. As long as it still fits on the bike.

It fits and he has been on the bike for a while. The bike has almost 1500 km extra on the counter, already.
