Repetier Configurations for Your Printrbot Simple Metal

Hi all,

Glad to make another one of these!

These settings have been thoroughly tested and so far have rendered me wonderful prints on my Printrbot Simple Metal up to about 200 microns.

Please do comment on this instructable with any questions or suggestions for improvement. I'd love to know how these worked for you.

Remember: These can be altered while printing! Change your flowrate and feedrate to alter extrusion and travel speed and see how it affects your print; try different temperatures for different filaments if you are not happy with your results... get creative.

EEPROM Settings (calibration)

The EEPROM settings are ones that affect your printer's stepper motors: so your X, Y, Z and E (extruder) motors.These motors turn by making minuscule rotation motions or "steps".The settings therefore control whether or not your prints are to scale or not; and also the amount of filament that gets pushed through to your hot end by your extruder.

In principle these should not need calibration right off the bat; however, if you are having prints that are not proportionally to scale, over-extrusion, under-extrusion, it might be time to have these settings calibrated. To calibrate you must print a to-scale calibration object (like a rectangular cube, or calibration steps) and measure how each axis performs. If, say, you are printing a "40mm cube" and the x-axis side is a couple millimeters too large - you must decrease the "Steps per mm" under "X:".OR if the extruder motor is either extruding too much filament (resulting in big blobs) or too little filament (resulting in too thin lines and flaws) you have to adjust your "E" motor steps per mm accordingly.

IMPORTANT: to access the EEPROM settings you must have your printer connected - with NO commands waiting.
