Repair a Cracked Plastic Shovel With Steel Wire

2.jpg.jpeg

How solid will that be? Pretty solid if you do it right! First thing you need is a cracked plastic shovel. Find one on the street for free or break your own! Then look carefully and decide where to drill holes (tiny as the steel wire if possible). The more stitches you make, the better. Try to think where reinforcement are needed the most. Imagine the weight of the snow, torsion, etc.

Drill Holes, Cut Steel Wire, Twist It to Hold the Pieces Together

The secret here is when you twist both end of the steel wire, it should create enough tension to "stick" back the pieces together. Adding glue is a waste of time and money from my experience. I find it important to put several pieces of wire to cover a crack. Twist the plastic with your hands when you think you're done. If you feel it will hold, then it should!

Go Out and Test It

This is mostly to inspire people (and maybe to remove snow)! Try to go easy on the poor thing!
