Renovated Dazey Butter Churn

I've always wanted an antique butter churn but never could justify the cost. It's pretty easy to find the wooden paddle assembly but next to impossible to find a suitable glass bottle with the appropriate sized opening. My solution was to fit the 5" lid of the Dazey churn onto a 4" glass peanut butter jar.

I located and drilled a slightly over sized hole in the center of the lid so that the shaft of the churn could be inserted.

After removing the paddles from the shaft of the churn the lid was drilled in four places where it didn't interfere with the Dazey churn bracing and pop rivets secured.

Because the opening of the replacement glass jar was of a smaller diameter, I had to to lightly sand the paddles to get them to fit through the opening.

This is the finished product. It won't win any antique restoration contests but it is functional and doesn't look too bad sitting on the shelf until the next time I have the urge to make homemade butter.
