Hello, I want to share how to renew your outlets for less than 10 dollars and without hiring someone to do it.

Materials

It is pretty simple.

1. Screwdriver.

2. Electrical tape.

3. Cutting Pliers.

4. Electrical Wire, if you want help deciding what wire to use visit this page from home depot. I use some wire that I had from other repairs I did. http://www.homedepot.com/c/factors_to_consider_wh...

5. Outlets, there are a lot of different kinds of outlets but the installation is the same I'm using a triplex outlet.

Disarm

The first thing you need to do is to cut the electricity.

Now that is safe to work first disarm the old outlet by taking the cover and then with the screwdriver take the screws out and disarm the outlet to have the wires.

These step may vary depending the outlet you're using, the one that I'm using needs to be armed. There are some outlets that are already armed so you may not need to do it.

Wires

You need two pieces of wire of approximately 5 inches each. Strip the wires with the cutting pliers by 2.5 inches leaving 1 inches with the cover and 1.5 inches striped again. One side is going in the outlet and the other in the electricity, so depending in the size of the outlet the measures may vary.

Wires and Outlets

Now insert the wire in the outlet, it needs to touch all the outlets. There are three loops Positive, Negative and Earth, the wire needs to be in the positive and negative it doesn't matter wich one, if you have an earth wire you'll have to install it too.

Connecting to the Electricity

Now you need to connect the wires. Place the wires together and with the cutting pliers twist them clock wise now with the tape isolate the cables, you can also use a wire connector then use the screwdriver to fix it to the wall again and put the cover.

It is ready remember to turn on the electricity before trying or you'll think that you have messed it up.
