Removing Honda CRX Stock Air Intake & Resonator

Resonatorremoval4.jpg

The resonator box and intake extension are basically made to quiet the intake, they also restrict air flow into the engine. To make things worse the extension piece is positioned right on top of the header which means it’s basically sucking in hot air.

Removing the whole assembly isn’t going to do a huge amount of anything performance wise, but since I have to wait until after my engine swap to add a proper cold air intake this is the best I can do.

Since I had the whole bumper off to fix a headlight anyway, I decided to remove everything.
Taking off the bumper is a pain in the ass and I haven’t done a write up for it yet, but I will eventually, until then you’ll have to figure it out yourself.

Step 1

The extension piece is the thing the arrows are pointing to
While it’s off you can always get a lovely assitant to carefully scrape nasty bugs off your radiator. Be prepaired to answer questions like; “How big are the UNUSUAL bugs in B.C.?”
“Jebus what the Heck is that?”

Step 2

The extension piece is bolted along the top of the radiator by two bolts (I’m pointing to the right one their’s another one off to the left)

Once those bolts are off you can just pull the extension out, I put the bolts back into their holes, just in case I need them for something later

Step 3

The resonator box is under the passenger side headlight, it’s bolted in with two bolts; undo those and you can pull it out of the filter box.

Step 4

Throw those pieces on your driveway and your done.
