Refurnish Faded Calculator's LCD Display

The LCD display of an old calculator becomes faded and hardly to read in low light condition. The reflector behind the LCD turned dark due to aging.
Here are some simple steps to refurnished it, at least to an usable condition.
Tools Needed

1. A sharp knife
2. Screw driver
3. Double side tape
4. Silver of white spray paint
5. A hot air blower
6. Some scrap papers
Remove the Cover

Remove the screws with a screw driver, remove the back cover.
Remove the battery if required.
Remove the Metal Protector of the LCD Screen

Set the blower to 180 degree Celsius, point and blow toward metal protector until the glue underneath is melted.
Important: In order to avoid the flexible cable of the LCD display melted and shrink, remember mask it with a piece of paper while blowing.
Once the glue is melted, the metal protector can easily be lifted by the screw driver or knife.
Caution: Beware of the hot surface, ESD protection may needed.
Remove the Old Reflector

Lift the corner of the reflector by using a sharp knife then carefully peel it off by hand.
Clean the surface to ensure there is no residue of glue, make sure it is free from dust and grease too.
Spray on the LCD

Mask out the entire calculator with a piece of paper, only expose the LCD.
Spray on the LCD, and let it dry.
Reassembly

Apply the double side tape on the metal protector, reassembly the LCD and calculator.
Finally done, the LCD is become brighter and clearer :-)
