Bake for 25 minutes in a 365 degrees F oven (180 degrees C).

Keep your delicious Red velvet cake in its pan and let it cool down for a few minutes before handling it.

Crumble the cake into fine pieces with a large spoon. Once the Red velvet mixture obtain the right consistency, shape the cake with your hands into a big water drop shape. Gently smooth the cake with your hand, and firmly press it between your palms so the cake will hold its shape.

Place your cake in the refrigerator and let it set for at least an hour ;)

Tools & ingredients:
-White & yellow fondant or gumpaste

-Red food coloring

-Rolling pin

-Powdered sugar

-Black food coloring

-Toothpicks

-Pointed round paint brush

It's time to cover the cake with fondant!

First, dust your work surface with powdered sugar. Mix together a tiny ball of yellow fondant with a lot of white fondant, knead until the fondant is smooth on the outside. Then roll it out to fit the cake.

Cover the top of the cake with fondant and use a sharp knife to trim off any excess fondant. Leave some extra fondant at the top of your cake, and shape it as shown in the picture to create the Aorta.

Use a toothpick to carve the "veins" (anterior interventricular artery) as shown in the pictures. Next, take a chunk of fondant, to create the right & left Auricles (flatten them with your fingers for a messy texture).

Little Details That Will Make a BIG Difference

Roll out some ivory colored fondant into a sheet, then wrap it as shown in the pictures to create the Pulmonary Trunk. Then, attach it around the Aorta.

To sculpt the veins on the surface of the heart, make several tiny snake shapes and arrange them around the heart ventricles.

Next, roll out another piece of fondant into a sheet and cut several strips. Gently wrap them as shown in the picture to make several small tubes. We will attach these tubes to the heart to form the veins & arteries. You can use this 3D Heart from the Atlas of Anatomy for guidance. :)

Add “Finishing Touches”

Apply red food coloring all over the cake. Next, shade the veins with black food coloring.

Then mix together red and black food coloring and paint the heart Auricles. Darken the arteries/ "tubes" openings with this dark shade of red.

Tools and ingredients:

Thin out a drop of blue food coloring with some water and lightly paint lines that radiate outward from the pupil to create the pattern of the iris.

Dip your brush in black gel food coloring and paint the pupil. Then, mix blue and black food coloring then slightly paint the outer ring of the iris.

To clean up the edge of the iris, remove unwanted food coloring from the sclera/eye white with a Q-tip.

Optic Nerve

You will only need a small amount of red & flesh colored fondant to make the Optic nerve, mix them together. Then stretch the fondant into a long snake shape, arrange the Optic nerve around the eyeball as shown in the pictures! :)

Optional Step: Jello Eye Cornea!
