Hello creative minds.

Welcome back again. Today we are going to build this cool project.

Background behind the build :

I always try to make creative things out of discarded products[ That's why the name Misfit Maker] . And I also try to collect these discarded products, whenever I visit my relatives or friends. Most of the projects that has been published in this instructable are made through this way. Moreover the outbreak of covid19 forced as to stay in home, and also the academics were online. Thus me and my brother decided to showcase our ideas. It was quite difficult to document our projects without a proper mobile holder. So we decided to make one .

If you like our projects ,show your support by subscribing our channel and be a part of the misfit family : https://youtube.com/channel/UCIQsAQkDs8KisqSx1zWMv...

Now Let's Build.....

Supplies

Materials needed :

Empty glue stick case.

PVC pipe

Acrylic sheets

Screws/Rivets

Pen cases

Pipe solvent

Aluminum L bar

M seal glue

Base part of cctv camera [Don't have one, use a simple clamp or a portable DVD hinge or just go with your imagination].

Tools :

Screwdriver

Cutter

Hacksaw

Hand file

Pliers

Bench vice.

Let's Start by Making the Clamp

Firstly we need to make a simple clamp out of PVC. This will be used to hold the glue stick case in place. From a PVC cutout a small section using a hack saw as shown in the picture. Across that cutout piece add a vertical cut such that it can be uncoiled to a rectangular sheet [simply by heating it]. Place the mildly heated PVC sheet above the glue stick case. Now give the sheet the curved profile by applying pressure with the help of cards as shown in the image. Finally provide holes for screws . I also added a small section out of PVC to cover the back portion of the clamp as shown in the second last image.

Modifying Clamp

Now I needed to modify the clamp in such a way that I could easily attach the CCTV's stand.[ Just visit any electronic repair shops or cctv's shop, you can get it for free of cost.] Firstly I begin with cutting out a disc out of the PVC sheet. Then using PVC solvent glue the disc to the clamp. To provide easy access to the screw driver I also added certain holes in the disc as shown in the image 4. Using a cutter I carved out the threaded circular portion from the base of the camera case[Image 5]. And then glued it to the clamp using m-seal glue. Before gluing it make sure to provide spacing in correspondence to the disc we made earlier [used soldering iron for this purpose]. The provided spacings must be such that one can easily slide in the screwdriver as shown in the second last image. Our clamp attachment is over, now we can easily fix the stand to our clamp [as shown in last image].

Making the Phone Holder

Acrylic sheets and aluminum L bars are used to make the holder. Based on the template provided cutout the parts out of the acrylic sheet and L bar. In order to hold the phone firmly, add a slight curved profile to it using a bench wise. Now for fixing the L bars to the acrylic sheet, one can use screws or rivets.

Reviving Glue Stick Case Method 1

Adjustable screw knob functionality for our stand will be made possible using this glue stick case. There are many ways in which you could modify the glue stick case to achieve this function. Anyway I will be sharing one method , which is quite straight forward. If you have a pen with hard end at the bottom, you could easily modify the glue stick. You would only need to cut the required part of the pen case and then glue it to the nut inside the glue stick case. Now we can enclose everything with the cap. Also provide a hole in the cap to allow easy sliding of the pen case. Optionally one can also add a spring before closing the glue stick case with it's cap. The hard end part of the pen case will be used for screwing action.

Reviving Glue Stick Case Method 2

If you have a pen without hard end. In order to provide the screwing portion, a pen with solid body is used. One may also need to taper the solid body pen slightly such that it fix tightly in the hollow pen case as shown in the images. Now cut the required length needed and finally glue it in to the nut. The remaining process is same as the above step.

Assembling the Holder

We have made everything needed for our holder till now. Now we only need to assemble the parts that we made earlier. I have used screws to hold everything in place. The way in which parts are assembled is clearly shown in the above shown images. Our holder assembly is complete, now we are approaching to the final stages of our build.

Stand for Classes

Since we already completed the holder assembly, now it's only lacking a base. For making the base I have used an ACP sheet. I have added fillet along the corners of the sheet. Then the holder assembly is fixed to the sheet using screws. Make sure to cut the projected part of the screw below the sheet. Now our awesome multi axis stand is complete. Now you can watch your online classes in any angle you want.

I badly needed a stand to help me in documenting my projects. Our holder assembly is attached to the C clamp via an aluminum L bar . And I also used a portable DVD hinge mechanism[ to increase the degrees of rotation] to fix the holder assembly to the L bar. Our super cheap yet amazing build is complete.

I didn't had to spend any penny on these materials other than the glue. I am extremely happy to give a new life to these discarded materials through the power of creativity.

I have also included the video link for this project. Even though the video language isn't in English It's subtitled in English.

Hope you guys enjoyed it.

Thanks for reading my little instructable.

Yours,

Misfit Maker.
