This is a Lounge Set that has been made using 100% recycled materials that would have been otherwise sent to landfill. In the Finished Product we have a Leather Taken from Old thrown away couches, We have a Carpet layer underneath that that has been taken from thrown away carpet. And the Wood for both the Chair and the Table was taken from Pallets that were taken apart and remade into these 2 Furniture Pieces. The Chair acts as a nice layback chair while the table can be used as a Mini Makeshift Desk swell as a Footrest when turned on its side.

Gathering the Materials

The first step is in acquiring the materials needed. I found the carpet and leather on Council Clean Up ( Australian toss to the Curb Event ) in other countries you will be able to find this from dumpsters or shops throwing this stuff away. And then the Pallets can be easily found at any shopping centre or high supplied shops such as your supermarkets. ( Normally Found outside near their loading bay or in a Skit Bin.

Preperation of Materials

The Pallets you have collected need to now be taken apart in what ever way is more convenient for you. I used a mallet and a hammer to remove the Nails but anything that works for you should be ok to use. ( Note: Try to not damage the wood severely in this process as broken wood is as good as no wood )

After you take the timber from the pallets stack them nicely and start sanding them down to a smoother tone that will protect you from blisters. ( This can be done using any conventional sanding method. Disc sander is not recommended for this ).

Measurements

The next step is to measure out the timber to fit on your chair. The furniture I designed were made specifically for the measurement I did on my legs and on the preferred height. Something I did do to the chair was to give it a tilt angle of 28 degrees to have a nice fallback feel on the chair. Another thing I did was to use the thickest timber on the Frame and on the supports of both the Table and the Chair. ( Note: The Amount of usable timber you have salvaged can effect the measurements as you need to consider the amount of timber you have and how much is required. )

Cutting the Timber

Next Step is to cut all the timber marked out. This can be done using any wood cutting method available to you just make sure you stay safe while doing it. I used a Tenon Saw for the Extra Long bits, A Disc Sander for the 28 degree cuts and for smoothening the tenon saw cuts and then lastly the Band Saw.

Putting the Wood Together

This process is critical for the success of the Furniture. In mine I flushed all the screw head sections of the wood to give added aesthetics. This process must also be done correctly and on a flat surface to prevent a wonky stance. ( NOTE: This section will take the longest time and will require a decent amount of knowledge in Carpentry / Woodworking )

Application of Cushions

Measure out your seat base and cut your carpet. Then Screw and Staple the carpet onto the seat base, After that measure and cut the leather so that is overfolds the entire chair. Then staple it on. This process must also be used on the side of the footrest table.

Application of the Finish

Firstly: Newspaper and Tape all the leader you don't wanna have varnish on.

After that you simply place newspaper on the workspace floor and varnish a single thick coat onto the furniture. This can be more or less layer depending on personal preference ! Now wait for it to dry !
