Recycled Fabulous Flower Cans
I always loved the design on the Arizona cans. In the meantime I got a nice collection of all the different designs and I wanted to do something with them. So the fabulous flower can is born! Nice, easy, fast, cheap and fabulous!
Supplies
- some empty drinking cans
- pliers
- can opener
- soil
- small flowers or plants
Opening the Can
You first have to get rid of the top of the can so you can place your flower or plant in it. I used a can opener for this. But.. instead of rolling it over the can like you would normally do to open a can, you know only place the can opener and make one little cut in it. (see picture)
Remove the can opener, place it beside the cut you just made and repeat this till all those little cuts made sure you can get the top of the can off.
You can of course use the can opener the way it is supposed to work but you wil damage the outside of the can and that is not what you want unless you love damaged, torn apart flower cans.
Remove the Sharp Edge
If you cut the can the way in step 1, you will end up with a can with a really sharp edge. Take your pliers and press the sharp edge gently down till it lays flat against the inside of you can. You will no longer have a sharp edge.
I actually wanted to do this with a precision plier but I couldn't find it so I took a plier I could find. I bit oversizes water pump pliers.
Soils and Plant
Fill the can completely with soil and add you small plant. Give it a little bit of water.
Enjoy!
Enjoy your easy cheap-ass but oh so fabulous flower/plant can! <3
