Recycled Bottle Bird House

Hello. I am thirteen years old and I attend Yosemite Valley Charter School. I am so excited to share my Recycled Bottle Bird House. Anyway lets get into it.

• gallon water jug (a milk carton would work two)
• spray paint
• twine
• drill and drill bit
• hole saw with a drill (or Dremel tool)
• file
• hot glue

Pick out your water jug or milk carton and peel off the label. Then wash it out well.

Next, you will use your Dremel tool or hole saw to cut the entrance hole. I designed mine for finches, but a diameter of 1.5 inches should work just fine. Then file it down so it doesn't cut. After this is done you will want to find the deepest places in the bottom of the jug, and drill a few holes there. It is important to drain any water that gets into it.

Now we will proceed and paint the jug. Note: Before painting you might find it helpful to rough the sides up with a file to help the paint stick. Also, please remove the cap before painting.

While the bottle is drying you can work on the cap. You can do this by drilling two holes side by side in the cap (they only need to be big enough to fit the twine through). Then cut about 4 inches of twine. Thread it through the holes and double knot it. Please note the pictures.

Now you will glue the perch. What I did was I found a stick and hot glued it to the front of the jug.

Now you can screw the cap on and hang it up. Yay! Thank you for reading this Instructable and I hope you had fun.
