Get Crib Rails.
Find an old crib that you dont need. Take the Ends (as they fit just perfect) and get it cleaned up (Paint if needed) and make sure there is no cracks or splinters.
Get Screws, Hinges, and Lock and postion then where you want them. Mark where you want the holes.

Placing the Screws.
Pre-Drill holes so that way you dont crack the wood. Place the screws for the hinges and lock (make sure you get the right size. I didn't)
Secure to the Wall
Screw into wall with 2" to make sure that they are in there good.
Just Lock It Now
Now just put the lock on and close the gate. There you go a baby gate for under $15. I spent $5 on the crib 3 years ago at a grage sale and $8 for the hardware. I made 2 one of each door in my kitchen as the Store bought ones that I had the kids broke.
