Recycle Bin Hiding Place
Sometimes people do bad things, like stealing other peoples stuff. If you have ever had something stolen, you know it can be frustrating and expensive to replace the stolen property. I find myself in situations where I have to leave something valuable in my car. There are places to hide stuff in cars, but I thought it would be nice if I had a way to leave something valuable, in my car, and have it look like something not valuable. I decided to get a recycle bin and see if I could make a hiding place.
Materials
This is the recycling bin I used (and it came in a cardboard box): http://amzn.to/2yvxtbu
You will be using the cardboard box that it was mailed in.
You also want some recyclables. Make sure they are clean.
Make You Hiding Place
All you have to do is use one side of the box the bin came in to make like a shelf for the recyclables to sit on top of. Put that cardboard into the recycle bin and place the recyclables on top. Try and make it look natural. I was originally thinking that I was going to make a complicated hinged top and glue the recyclables to it. After my first attempt of just putting the cardboard in with other recyclables on top, I thought the easy way was the best way.
Hide Your Valuables
I had some rubber totes. But if you leave those in your car, a thief is going to assume they contain something worth stealing. If you make your recycle bin hiding place look convincing, you can hide valuables and make it look like something not worth stealing. The only sure fire way to not have anything stolen, from your vehicle, is to not leave anything in your vehicle. But if you find yourself in a situation that you have to leave something valuable, in your vehicle, having a recycle bin hiding place could help. You could also use it inside a house, apartment, or garage. Just make sure your family knows, so they the don't recycle your valuables.

I made a quick video.
