I had been thinking of creating a clock from Pink Floyd's the 'Dark Side of the Moon' album as it features the classic song 'time'. But then I had another think and used a record I didn't want to play any more instead.

Making a clock using a record is an amazingly simple project to do and makes for an excellent gift. I gave the one I made to a friend who was about to spend $50 on buying a living room clock.

• Record - Preferably one you don't want to listen to any more or you can always buy a cheap one from a charity store.
• Clock mechanism and hands - I purchased this one on AliExpress for less than $10.

Measure the clock's mechanism shaft and enlarge the hole in the record so it will fit through.

Secure the clock mechanism to the record using supplied washer and nut.

Attach the hands which came with the clock mechanism. They just pushed on.

The clock mechanism didn't have a hook on the back to hang it. I used some duct tape and attached a loop, so it could hang on a hook. Blue-tac can also be used to attach the clock to a wall.
