Really Simple Maple Cookie Using Maple Syrup! Super Soft. Maple Syrup Only, No Other Sweeteners Added!
This is a very simple Maple Syrup Cookie that is very soft. They is not super sweet but you can adjust sweetness to your taste. This recipe was an experiment and I made it up as I went, using just pure maple syrup as the sweetener. There is no white or brown sugar added to this mix so it may not be as sweet as your used to and are probably denser and more filling then you are used to but they turned out pretty good!

Supplies
Not too many ingredients and supplies are needed for this recipe. I will link to the same or similar on Amazon so you can make them yourself! Many of these ingredients would be cheaper locally. Some of these links on Amazon are through Amazon's Whole Foods Market which might not be available in your area but is cheaper then normal Amazon and has fresh food groceries like Eggs and Butter.

Ingredients You Will Need:
- Pure Maple Syrup - (It should be 100% Maple Syrup, I used Kirkland Signature from Costco but as long as its pure maple syrup it should work like the one I linked.)
- Pure Maple Syrup (Whole Foods) - (This one is cheaper and should work fine.)
- All-Purpose Flour - (I used Bob's Red Mill Unbleached White All-Purpose Baking Flour, this one is in 5lbs.)
- All-Purpose Flour (Whole Foods) - (This is cheaper then the all purpose flour for 5lbs and should be fine.)
- Baking Powder (Whole Foods) - (I used Clabber Girl Baking Powder, but this should work fine.)
- Salted Butter (Whole Foods) - (I used Kirkland Signature from Costco but this one should be fine.)
- Salt (Whole Foods) - (I used Mortons table salt but your this should be fine.)
- Egg (Whole Foods) - (I used a Kirkland Signature Organic Brown Egg but any egg like this should be fine.)
Supplies You Will Need:
Recipe & Pour in the Flour
The Simple Recipe for the Maple Cookies is:
- All Purpose Flour - 1 Cup (Plus a bit extra, I used an additional about 1/4th Cup or so)
- Pure Maple Syrup - 1/2 Cup
- Pinch of Salt
- Melted Butter - 1 Tbsp
- Egg - 1 Large Egg
- Baking Powder 1/2 Tsp
- This recipe makes 6-7 cookies depending on desired size. If you want a dozen simply double the recipe.
Once you have gathered all of those and the supplies pour the cup of flour into a bowl. Preheat your oven to 350° Degrees Fahrenheit.
Pour in the Pure Maple Syrup
Now pour in 1/2 cup of pure maple syrup into the measuring cup and then pour half into the bowl.
Add an Egg & Stir
Add in 1 Large Egg and stir. Then add the rest of the Maple Syrup, and stir it well.
Adding More Flour (if Needed)
I felt like it needed a bit more flour so I added in about 1/4th a Cup. Only add it if you need to, if the consistency is good you won't need more flour.
Adding in Baking Powder
Add in 1/2 Teaspoon of baking powder which is important for cookies to rise at all. This helps give it the soft consistency in the end. Stir it in well.
Adding Melted Butter
Cut off 1 Tablespoon of Butter, melt it in the microwave or in some other way and pour into the mix.
Final Stirring
Now give it a thorough stirring and you should be good to go.
Butter Your Cookie Sheet
Now apply butter to your small cookie sheet so the cookies do not stick. You could use some other cooking oil but I prefer butter. It was easier to just cut off a bit of butter and melt it then pour that into the cookie sheet and spread it with a paper towel.
Scoop the Cookie Dough Onto the Pan
Now scoop it onto the pan, mine made enough for 7 cookies because of inconsistent size. If you keep the sizes more consistent you should get about 6 cookies.
Put Into Oven to Bake
Now place in your preheated oven of 350° Degrees Fahrenheit for about 10-15 minutes.
Baking, Halfway In
Here they are about halfway through cooking.
Baking, Done
Here they are taken out of the oven. I wanted them to be very soft so I didn't let them brown up or get harder. I poked one of the cookies to check for the consistency I wanted.
Your Cookies Are Ready
After spreading them out on a plate the cookies are done cooking!
Maple Syrup on Top
I decided to put a bit of maple syrup on top of the final cookies. I should have mixed maple syrup into a frosting to put on the cookies, that would have been good too. This step is not required, it added a little more sweetness to the final cookie but not too much.
Trying Them Out
Time to enjoy the cookies! You can tell from the picture these are denser cookies then you may be used to. They are much more filling then normal cookies which helps prevent binge eating them all. They actually do make you pretty full pretty quick. They are also less sweet then what you may be used to, which to me was a welcome change to not have a sugar rush after eating cookies. They were thicker kind of like a bread in a way or maybe thicker like pumpkin or cake cookies. While just sweet enough to give a nice maple flavor, but not so sweet that all you taste is sugar, you can actually taste the other ingredients which is nice. This recipe is very easy to do so try them out and modify it to your taste!
