Real “Bucket” Hat

Hi everyone! Here I have made a silly bucket hat which is meant to be a literal bucket flipped upside down on my head. It’s something cute and funny to make and it’s pretty easy too!

Here are the abbreviations of the stitches I used:

Sc: single crochet

inc: increase

dc: double crochet

BLO: back loop only

• Red and white colored yarn
• Blue craft thread or embroidery thread
• 5.00 mm crochet hook
• 2.00 mm crochet hook
• Artificial flowers
• Clear blue gems
• Felt
• Glue gun
• Thread needle for sewing

Do this using red yarn and the 5.00 mm crochet hook.
* You can either use thicker yarn or double up your yarn like I did.*

R1. Make a magic ring with 7 stitches (7)

R2. inc around the 7 stitches (14)
R3. Sc, inc around the 14 stitches (21)

R4. Sc, Sc, inc around the 21 stitches (28)

R5. 3 Sc, inc around the 28 stitches (35)

R6. 2sc [ (4sc, inc) * 7 ] 3sc around the 35 stitches (42)
R7. 5sc, inc around the 42 stitches (49)

R8. 3sc, inc [ (6sc, inc) * 6 ] 3sc around the 49 stitches (56)
R9. 7sc, inc around the 56 stitches (63)

R10. Sc around the 63 stitches (63)

R11. 7sc (6sc, inc *7) 7sc around the 63 stitches (70)

R12. Sc around the 70 stitches (70)

R13. 9 Sc, inc around the 70 stitches (77)

R14 - R23. Sc around the 77 stitches for a total of 10 rows (77)

R24. 2sc, inc around the 77 stitches (102)

R25 - R28. Sc around the 102 stitches for a total of 5 rows (102)

Fasten off and then sew in the tails

First slip stitch around the top of the hat for a kind of lined look and then line near the bottom of the hat where we increased to 102 stitches. (Using a 5.00mm hook)
You can line more of the hat if you want but I just did lining on those two areas.

Here I used white yarn and doubled it up just like the red hat or use thicker yarn, using a 5.00mm hook.

R1. I started with a chain of 69 stitches

R2. Sc in the 69 chains, giving you a total of 68 stitches at the bottom increase in the parts stitch and sc around to the other side, and sc in those 68 stitches finishing off with and inc in the last stitch.

Use doubled up or thick white yarn here and a 5.00mm hook here to make the buttons.

R1. Make a magic ring with 6 stitches (6)

R2. Inc around the 6 stitches (12)

R3. Sc in the back loop only around the 12 stitches (12)

Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing and make one more.

Then sew the strap to the hat and attach the button to both ends of the strap.

It used blue embroidery yarn for this part and a 2.00mm hook ( you can use two different colors of blue for this part or just one.)
R1. Chain 15

R2. Dc in the first 9 stitches, Sc in the next 4 stitches, end with a slip stitch chain up two and do the same to the other side.

R3. Inc in the first two stitches, dc in the next 5 stitches, Sc in the next 6 stitches, slip stitch chain up 2 and do the same to the other side.
Then fasten off and make 7 more.

Once you have done this cut out felt in the same shape and glue it to the back of what you just made. Then cut out in white felt a small water droplet shape which you can glue to the water droplet we just made.

• First I added some artificial flowers near the bottom fattening them to the hat with hot glue.
• Then I glued on the 8 water droplets near the top of the hat.
• Then after that I added clear blue gems to the hat flap.

Cut a half circle for the base of the shovel head and then make a lining for the half circle, after that I cut some rectangles and stacked up a couple, then I made the handle for the shovel and then cut it in the middle so I could attach it and reattach it from the hat.
