Be it your oldest book you wanted to recycle or your favourite fictional character's novel which you have finished reading.Mark the dimensions of the cover on the backside of it for easy reference.

Then an outline of the base of the book is drawn which will rise up with the translucent sheet to give it a book shape.Care must be taken as this step is the most important.Wood must be cut along the outline which is made and then smoothened up using the machine or sand paper

Translucent Top

The top of our book lamp must also be made as same as the Step 1.Just that it is being done with a different material.Translucent sheet must be cut through a blade which is made 'pointier' by the grinding machine as shown above

More Work With Translucent Sheet

The drawing of the face of the page and the breadth of the book is to be drawn keeping in mind the dimensions of the book and the wooden base.

Scrape the translucent sheet along the drawing, best done with a ruler.

Pasting Any Reflective Sheet(optional)

IMG_20150816_164142.jpg

We have used a reflective sheet as we have used a 5 watt CFL bulb.Paste the sheets along the backside of the book

Attaching the Bulb

The bulb must be attached to the wooden base using any object or material which affords support. We have used thermocol to make the bulb stand upright. Also for wiring ,a small hole is to be made using a cutter for the wiring to come out

Stick Them All!

IMG_20150816_123218556.jpg

Firstly we must start off by sticking the vertical portions of translucent sheet to the wooden base with a strong adhesive followed by sticking of the top portion. Then all the wiring components and the reflective sheets must be rechecked if they are thoroughly stuck to the cover, this is because the book lamp is being closed and it cannot be opened again. Stick the hard cover Bingo ! Its done!

And then

"light it up"-Batman (the dark knight rises)

Budget(excluding wood and translucent sheet)

Adhesive - 40

5 Watt CFL bulb - 130

wires-30

plug and holder- 30

Total - 230 INR
