I made a Android-based tablet using a Raspberry Pi and Bass OS. It's almost the same as a real Android tablet! I have not yet been able to add Google Play Store but when I do, I will post another Instructable!

Supplies

You will need:

A Micro SD card (I recommend class 10, 32GB but you need at least 8GB.)

A Raspberry Pi 4B (I recommend at least 4GB RAM but if you want to do things like gaming and have a smoother and faster experience and you will be using the tablet a lot, go with a higher RAM like 8GB. I wish you could install RAM sticks into a Pi :)

A HDMI to Micro HDMI cable

A touchscreen (I recommend 10 inch as we are making a tablet. It should have a HDMI port and should be powered by plugging it into the Pi, not into a power outlet.) I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B9M5SCG4/ref=twister_B0BNL69B59?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

A power supply (I recommend this as we are making a tablet and it should not need to be plugged into a outlet while we are using it. It should be 5V 3A.)

Raspberry Pi case (This is optional. I recommend it to protect your Pi and you need to buy one compatible with your model.)

Raspberry Pi fan (I recommend this so your Pi doesn't overheat.)

You will also need a device with the Raspberry Pi Imager installed on it and it needs to have a Micro SD card port. If it doesn't, you can buy a Micro SD card adapter.

Plug Everything In

You should plug the screen into the pi and the fan if you have one. You can also put the Pi in the case if you have one. Do not put the Micro SD card in yet and do not plug the Pi into power yet.

Flash Bass OS to Your Micro SD Card.

Open up your device and install the Raspberry Pi Imager. You can go to this website and download it from there. If you are using a Raspberry Pi desktop, it will be already installed. If it's not, you can type this into the terminal: sudo apt install rpi-imager. Plug your Micro SD card into the device and open the Raspberry Pi Imager once it's done installing. Once in the Imager, click on the choose device button. Click on the Pi model that you are using. Then click on the button that says choose OS. Click on the button that says "Other general-purpose OS". Scroll down until you see Bass OS. Click on it. Click "Bass ARM (Android)". Then click "Bass TabletGo lOT/llOT - Android 14 (RPI 4B, CM4, 400) - SD card only". Then click the button that says "Choose storage". Click on the SD card installed in your computer. Then click "Next" and then click "Flash"! Wait for the Imager to finish flashing the OS Image to your SD card.

Start the Pi

Eject the SD card from your computer and insert it into your Pi's Micro SD card port. Connect the Pi to power and it should turn on! If you see Bass OS and it's moving logo at some point after it was turned on then your Android tablet works! Once it's on, you can set it up and change the settings and do whatever you wish. If you would like to be able to access the play store, you can do that through a app preinstalled on the OS called Aurora Store. Sometimes, that app doesn't work well (it didn't work at all for me) so I am currently trying to figure out how to get Google Play store (yes, the real app) on the tablet. Once I figure it out, I will post another Instructable! I hope you enjoyed this project!
