Rainbow Monkey Bread Sticky Rolls
I have always loved rainbows! They are like a happy ending after a rainstorm! I knew I had to enter and really thought about what I could do for this Rainbow Instructables Challenge. I had a can of refrigerated biscuits in my refrigerator so I starting thinking how I could make rainbow rolls using them. When you make traditional Monkey Bread, you cut each of the biscuits into fourths, roll it in cinnamon sugar and you layer them in a bundt pan. Since there are 6 colors in the rainbow, I thought I could cut each biscuit into pieces and roll them in 6 colors of powdered gelatin to make rainbow rolls! I think they turned out very pretty and very tasty too! Here is how you can make them.
Supplies Needed
6 very small bowls
cereal size microwaveable bowl
spoon
sharp knife
muffin tin
Ingredients
6 boxes of flavored gelatin: one red, one orange, one yellow, one green, one blue and one purple
1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated original biscuits
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
6 tablespoons butter
Spray the Pan
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Spray 8 muffin cups with no-stick cooking spray.
For the Gelatin
Pour each color of gelatin powder into its own small bowl.
Start Cutting
Separate dough into 8 biscuits; cut one into 8 equal pieces.
Roll Them
Roll each piece into a ball.
Roll in the Colors
Roll each ball in a different color of gelatin to coat.
Place in the Pan
Arrange in one muffin cup.
Repeat
Repeat and cut each of the remaining 7 biscuits. Roll into balls. Roll each ball in a different color of gelatin to coat and place in the coated muffin cups.
Melt Butter
In the cereal sized microwaveable bowl, melt the butter in a microwave oven.
Add Brown Sugar
Add the brown sugar to the melted butter; stir to blend.
Spoon Over Top
Spoon butter mixture over biscuit pieces in muffin pan.
Time to Bake!
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in pan for 5 minutes.
Remove From Pan
Loosen and remove by running a knife around the entire edge. Lift out each roll and turn so the bottom sticky side is the top.
Ready to Serve!
Now they are ready to serve for breakfast or for an any time treat! Your family or your guests will love the unusual rainbow colors, the subtle flavors of the gelatin and the warm sticky goodness of each roll!
