Rainbow Yarn Pillow

Hello! I chose to make a rainbow yarn pillow. This is really simple, a great project for beginners, and I love the way it turned out! You just make tassels in each color, and then you glue them to the pillow. It's that simple! This project was very relaxing to do and I hope you try it out because honestly, it was so fun to make!

For this project you will need...

  • Hot glue gun
  • Yarn (medium thickness) - I used one skein of each color that I wanted in the rainbow and two skeins of white.
  • Pillow case
  • Pillow insert
  • Ruler
  • Scissors

Making the Tassels

For the first step, you are going to need to make tassels, lots and lots of tassels. For each tassel, I used twelve strings that were four inches long. Then I took eleven of those twelve tassels and used the twelfth one to tie them together into a tassel. I made two rows of tassel for each color, but that is totally optional.

Gluing the Tassels

When gluing, you want to fold the tassel in half, and glue where you tied it. I found it easiest to mark out my design lightly with a pen because you will not be able to see it anyway. Keep going until you form a full arch of the rainbow.

Final Step!!! Trimming the Tassels

This step is totally optional if you like your pillow the way it is. But I wanted mine to me a little more even in some places so I went through and trimmed the tassels in a couple of places and now it's finished! I love the way it turned out and hope you give it a try!
