My grandkids love this pencil organizer, it stays out on the table whenever they are visiting, and it takes me ages to put it away when they leave because it makes me happy to look at!

This project was inspired by lots of cans of old spray paints that I needed to get rid of, and my love of recycling and repurposing.

Note: If I had gone out and purchased 10 different colored spray paints this would have been an expensive project. I was thinking another way to do this would be to paste from magazines colored swatches onto the tins.

Supplies

Tin cans x 10

Base 2@ 20 x 40 x 270

Ends 2@ 20 x 40 x 120

Sides 2@ 20 x 20 x 280

Handle 16mm dowel 390

screws, spray paints, glue, a few small nails, felt scratch protection stickers

See the attached plan to put the parts together

Note: I used a hammer and chisel to make a housing for the side to be glued and screwed into the ends. This step could be left out and you could just glue and screw them together with no housing joint, just make the handle longer.
