Rainbow RGB LEDs Made in Blender

Rainbow Render Animation

Hello everyone! Today, I'm excited to present my latest project, "Rainbow RGB LEDs made in Blender" In this project, I'll guide you through the step-by-step process of creating mesmerizing rainbow LED lights using Blender, a powerful 3D modeling and animation software. Our goal is to create a visually stunning animation and render that emulates the vibrant colors of a rainbow. Also remember to leave a comment if you have any questions or problems and I'll try to do my best and help us. Without further delay, let's dive into the details!

Supplies

For this project, you'll need Blender, a powerful 3D modeling and animation software, and GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program), an image editing and manipulation software. Blender will be used to create the 3D LED models and animation, while GIMP will help in designing custom textures and materials for the LED lights. You'll need to download any brick's texture from internet and a png file of the sentence you want and convert it to svg, or just download it from here (6 files in total). Ensure your computer meets the necessary system requirements to run both applications smoothly, and let your creativity shine through this exciting project!

Create the Cloud

Captura GIMP.JPG

At first, we'll need to create the cloud in GIMP, I recommend using circles as the white one to create the cloud, then, you'll export it to svg to import it to Blender

Create the Wall

Then, you'll have to create a cube in blender, make it a rectangle like this one, and give it the texture using CTRL + T on the Principled BSDF on the Shading part in Blender

Add the Cloud and the Sentence

Now import the SVGs as you can see on the photos

Redistribute and Scale the Cloud and the Sentence

Captura redistribuits nuvol i frase.JPG

Now you'll redistribute and scale the cloud and the sentence as you like, I recommend using mirror to the cloud to get it faster and easier.

Apply Bevel to Clouds

Captura bevel nuvols.JPG

Apply bevel to the clouds with 0.005 m of depth to make it 3d

Creating the Rainbow

Captura colors i curves.JPG

Add some curves from the cloud to the another cloud and apply bevel with 0.008 m of depth. Then, change the colors of each curve and make it with an emission surface to make it glow. I recommend using strength at 16.000

Make Glass for Rainbow

Captura glass arcoiris.JPG

Now' we'll make the glass to the curves that are going to make the design more realistic. To do it, just duplicate each curve and change the depth of the bevel at 0.05 m aprox, you can adjust it for your preferences. Then add a material called glass and adjust it like I've done

Make the Sentence Led

Captura lletres colors.JPG

Now make the same you've done with the rainbow's curves but with each letter, make them 3d with bevel. This time, adjust the depth to 0.0005 m and use some emissive materials with diferrent colors to get that RGB LEDs.

Make Glass for Sentence

Now, repeat step 7 but in this case for each letter, and adjust the depth to 0.001 m. Then apply the glass material as well.

Add Details

I recommend adding some details like wires or some supports to make the render even more realistic

Render

Now, change the strenght of the surface of the world to 0, create a camera on the best position, make sure your project is on Cycles Engine, use the resolution you want for the render, and wait your computer to finish your work! Also, I've used Denoise Threshold and I used 4096 samples for the frame, if you don't have a good computer, that can take some time but the result is much better.

Animate (Optional)

On my case, I animated the lights to make a simple animation, but remember you can let your creativity fly and create some impressive animations just using keyframes!
