In this instructable, I will show you how to make a home décor circular board using acrylic paint and a Medium density fiberboard board (MDF). The theme of this project is based on the Rainbow colors. The leaf is painted with acrylic colors. The colors of the rainbow are: Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. This decorated board is very compact, light in weight and looks cool. Let’s get started!

  • Now, take a plant leaf (you can use any plant leaf as of your choice). Apply paint on the other side of the leaf where the volumetric veins are present.
  • After applying color on the leaf, put the leaf on whitely painted surface of the MDF board and lightly press it with a tissue paper to get good and visible impressions of leaf veins.
  • After printing one color wash the leaf as well as paint brush properly with water and then apply other color.
  • I am using rainbow colors one by one to paint plant leaf and printing its impression on MDF board.
  • I have very limited colors so, I prepared Violet color by mixing following colors:-

Blue Color + Red Color + White Color = Violet color

  • Apply different rainbow colors one by one to paint plant leaf and make at least three impressions of each color.
  • You can put the painted leaf in random way or in a regular pattern on the board.
  • I am putting the leaf in random way on board to get random and colorful expressions.
  • Be careful while putting leaf on the board and removing it otherwise leaf may damage.
  • After applying each color leave the board for dry for few minutes.

  • When the colors are dried if you see certain stains or marks on the board then you can use white acrylic color to hide these stains or marks to give a final finish and leave it for dry for few minutes.
  • Now, your own DIY colorful home décor item is ready to present.
  • You can paste this board on your room wall or in your showcase with the help of double sided tape.
  • Hope you like this project. Thanks for watching.
