You will need the following materials:

Red Jello

Orange Jello

Yellow Jello

Green Jello

Blue Jello

Purple Jello

Water

Whipped Cream

Maraschino Cherries

Air Head Rainbow Sour Strips

Knife

Clear Cups

Medicine Dropper

Ruler

Measure the Height of the Cups

There is a little math involved in this tutorial. In order to figure out how much Jello you should use of each color, start with measuring the height of the cup. I used a 12 ounce cup with a height of four inches, so I divided the 4 inches by the 7 colors of the rainbow to determine that I would be able to pour approximately a 1/2 inch of each color.

Preparing the Jello

Prepare the red Jello as directed on the box. Allow the Jello to cool down before using it.

Begin Pouring

Carefully pour the red Jello into a clear cup by transferring it from the pot with the medicine dropper. Place a ruler vertically next to the cup and continue until you have an approximately 1/2 inch layer. Place the cup in the fridge for 20-30 minutes.

Repeat Steps 3 & 4

Repeat steps 3 & 4 ensuring that you follow the color pattern of the rainbow. The pattern is red (should be done at this point), orange, yellow, green, blue (STOP HERE), indigo, and violet. Stop at blue at this point and not jump ahead because you will need to make indigo from blue and purple. As you do each color, make sure not to move on to the next color until you have given each layer time to cool of in the fridge (at least 20 minutes each).

Mixing Colors

Again, as stated in the previous step there's no supermarket that sells indigo colored Jello. Therefore, you will have to make your own. Mix an equal amount of blue and purple Jello. Continue to add more color, either blue or purple, until the shade is acceptable to you.

Repeat Steps 3 and 4

Now that you've mixed part of your blue and purple jello, repeat steps 3 and 4 with the mixed indigo colored Jello. Then repeat steps 3 & 4 with the purple jello.

Adding Whipped Cream and Cherry

Start by adding whipped cream around the the edge of the cup and move the whipped cream can in a spiral motion inward until ending in the center of the cup. Then, top off the whipped cream with a maraschino cherry.

Cut Sour Strips of Candy

Using a knife, cut small pieces of the sour strips (with the strip in a horizontal direction) so that you get the whole rainbow in each cut.

Sprinkle the Whipped Cream

The last ingredient you'll need for this delicious treat are the sour strip sprinkles you made in the previous step. Spread the sour strip sprinkles on top and you are done.
