RPG Dice Tower

Most RPG games involve a dice in some way.

It is often hard to control the dice from knocking over your game.

To solve this we are going to create a Dice shaker.

To blend in with the theme mine is shaped like a castle turret.

The shape and size is easily customisable for your needs.

Cardboard

Paint

Glue (hot glue and a pritt stick)

First cut a 11 x 7cm box out of cardboard.

I am using a shoe box as it is thin but strong.

(I got these measurements through trial and error.)

This size fits 3 cube dice.

Role the card around a pencil to make it round and then glue the two edges together.

I tried to keep the glue on the inside as much as possible so it doesn't get in the way.

Start by cutting up lots of small squares.

By rounding the corners it makes the tower more natural.

The more bricks you make the better your castle will look.

Next glue them all to the tube leaving an area for the door.

You could play around with the size of your bricks.

Without a base the tower would topple and the dice would fall out.

Using a pencil I drew round the bottom of the tower.

I then cut this shape out with scissors.

To glue it on i used hot glue to ensure a firm hold.

(be sure to glue on the side with the door space!)

What are crenellations?

a crenel 'a notch or open space between two merlons in a battlement'.

Again draw around the tower and cut out a ring bigger than the tower width.

Then cut out some rectangles to be the crenellations.

Glue them on as equally spaced as possible.

To make the door I cut two arches and glued them on to the tower.

I also engraved some details of wood with a Stanley knife.

Now the tower is complete all it need is a little paint.

For the paint I used grey acrylic.

Be sure to get into all of the gaps!

I also included a trail of green paint to look like plants scaling the wall.

You could experiment with dry brush technique to make the tower feel old and worn.

Could you use paper towel for texture?
