Introduction:

This project is basically using one RGB LED light bulb to make a mood lamp. By using RGB light bulb, the lamp users were allowed to change the color based on mood and emotions.

(Got the idea from: https://www.instructables.com/id/ARDUINO-UNO-Commo...)

For the color choices, there are several suggestions for you:
1. Red: Anger, embarrassment, passion, or lust.

2. Blue: Shyness, sadness, or calmness.

3. Yellow: Cowardice, happiness, or caution.

4. Green: Disgust, envy, friendliness, or greed.

5. Purple: Pride, fear, or courageousness.

6. Grey: Depression, regular sadness, or stoicism.

7. Black: Coldness or mournfulness.

8. Pink: Cheeriness, embarrassment, or love.

9. White: Shock, fear, coldness, or mournfulness.

This project is convenient for consumers for both making it and using it. If you are visiting this website and really want to make it, just enjoy the process of DIY and the final lamp.

- An Arduino board & circuit board (where all the programs are uploaded to )

- A pack of wires & Alligator clip wire (30x for each should be enough)

- One RGB LED light bulb

- 3 variable resistance (you may control the light color of lamp by using this)

- A big acrylic board:

  • 4 pieces of 10 cm * 10 cm * 0.25 cm (four sides of the cube)
  • 1 piece of 10.5 cm * 10.5 cm * 0.25 cm (top of the cube)
  • 3 pieces of 2 cm * 10 cm * 0.25 for additional 3 heights of each sides (one side to send the light bulb into the cube)

- An acrylic knife / 3D printer (for dividing big board into small board)

- One white paper box (container of the circuit and Arduino board)

- An utility knife (for cutting the box to favorable or needed function)

- A strip of instance glue (glue the acrylic boards together)

- A bottle of glue remover (might be some left & dry glue on the surface of cube)

- A ruler (to measure the lengths precisely)

- Two pieces of sand paper (as big as the original acrylic board & diffuse the light)

- A mat (suggest the ones with thickness prevent to cut the floor or furniture)

Let's Start (Cube)

Procedure (every step should be done on a thick mat):

SAFETY PRECAUTION:

1. Remember to wear masks to prevent you breathe the poisonous air of instant glue

2. Remember to wear gloves to keep the instant glue away from your hand

3. Remember to wear safety goggle to prevent the instant glue (gas) to your eyes

I personally sincerely recommend you to follow these instructions because my personal experience is painful. You probably never want to have glues on your hands for three days, breathe in the gas for consecutive hours, feel the pain inside your eyes when the gas goes in. To reduce the possibility of it, follow the instructions mentioned above is necessary.

- Start carving acrylic board into: (by using acrylic knife / 3D printer)

  • 4 pieces of 10 cm * 10 cm * 0.25 cm (four sides of the cube)
  • 1 piece of 10.5 cm * 10.5 cm * 0.25 cm (top of the cube)
  • 3 pieces of 2 cm * 10 cm * 0.25 for additional 3 heights of each sides (one side to send the light bulb into the cube)

(I personally suggest to first cut paper into piece and make a model. Having a basic concept of building is important because mistakes might occur while building without any thoughts.)

- Glue the four walls & the top (by using the strip of instant glue bought)

- Wait for the glue to dry

- Clean the leftover dried glues off the half-done cube

(use the bottle of glue remover you bought: At first, you will have to spray the liquid on the cube. Wait for a while, for about 2 to 3 minutes, until the liquid soften the glue, then use toothbrush to brush it off)

- Glue 3 smallest acrylic board (under the randomly picked three side)

Procedure: (Arduino & Circuit Board & Coding)

- Take out all the Arduino / electrical materials you bought

- Understand how to place the wires right (both RGB & variable resistance)

- Connect the Common Anode of the RGB LED to Digital Pin - 8 on the Arduino UNO.

Connect the 3 cathode legs to 220 Ohm resistor and diode as shown in the circuit diagram (connected to the resistor)

- Connect the diode legs to ARDUINO UNO Digital Pins- 5, 6 and 7

- Done

- Type your code
