REMOTE CONTROLLED CRANE
remote controlled crane from aakash karekar on Vimeo.
IT'S BASICALLY A SMALL CRANE WHICH IS OPERATED VIA REMOTE CONTROL(RF CIRCUIT).THIS CRANE HAS TWO FUNCTIONS i.e1) IT CAN ROTATE 360 DEGREE.
2) AND LIFTING FUNCTION.
THE WHOLE CRANE IS MOUNTED ON A VERY RIGID METAL BASE ALONG WITH MOTOR(VCR HEAD) FOR ITS ROTATION.
THINGS YOU WILL NEED
- AQUAGUARD METAL BASE(ANY STRONG BASE WILL DO)
- VCR HEAD
- MECHANIX SET
- 2 TAPE RECORDER MOTOR
- 2 RUBBERBANDS
- 2 RC CIRCUITS FROM TWO SIMILAR CAR AND ANY ONE OF ITS REMOTE
- NUTS AND SCREWS
- TWO 6V BATTERY OR 6V DC POWER SUPPLY
CRANE BASE
THE ABOVE IMAGE SHOWS A BLUE COLOUR METAL BASE UPON WHICH THE WHOLE CRANE IS MOUNTED.THAT BASE I FOUND FROM OLD AQUAGUARD(WATER PURIFIER MACHINE).FOR FIXING ALL THE MOTORS AND PARTS ON IT,I HAD TO DRILL HOLES ON THE METAL BASE ACCORDING TO THE POSITION OF MOTORS AND PARTS HAD TO BE FIXED.
ROTATION OF CRANE
A TAPE RECORDER MOTOR WAS USED TO MAKE THE CRANE ROTATE .THE MOTOR WAS CONNECTED TO ANOTHER MOTOR(VCR HEAD)BY RUBBER BAND.
MOTOR HEAD
AFTER FIXING ALL THE PARTS AND MOTOR,AGAIN I HAD TO MOUNT ANOTHER MOTOR,WHICH I FOUND FROM OLD VCR(VCR HEAD) UPON WHICH THE WHOLE UPPER PART OF THE CRANE HAD TO BE FIXED.
UPPER PART OF CRANE
FOR BUILDING UPPER PART OF CRANE,I MADE USE OF MECHANIX GAME SET.IN THAT GAME I FOUND MANY STEEL PLATES,WHICH MADE MY WORK EASY FOR BUILDING THE UPPER PART OF CRANE.
IT ALSO MADE CRANE LOOK VERY SYMMETRICAL AND RIGID.
INTERWINING OF CORD
AFTER COMPLETING THE UPPER PART OF CRANE,I FIXED THE MOTOR,THAT I GOT FROM AN OLD TAPE RECORDER TO A PULLEY BY RUBBERBAND.THAT PULLEY WAS WINDED WITH ALMOST 2 METER CORD.
THE MOTOR USED TO WIND IN AND WIND OUT THE CORD,WHEN IT USED TO ROTATE.
WITH THIS MECHANISM,THE HOOK WHICH WAS ATTACHED TO END OF CORD WOULD SLIDE DOWNWARD AND UPWARD.
RADIO FREQUENCY CIRCUIT(RF CIRCUIT)
TO MAKE THE CRANE OPERATE VIA REMOTE,I TOOK TWO RF CIRCUIT FROM TWO SIMILAR RF CAR.
ONE RF CIRCUIT I CONNECTED BELOW THE METAL BASE FOR ROTATION OF THE CRANE AND ANOTHER RF CIRCUIT WAS CONNECTED TO UPPER PART OF CRANE FOR MOMENT OF CORD UP AND DOWN.
5V TO 6V WAS GIVEN TO IT AS INPUT VOLTAGE.
