REMOTE CONTROL MOVING CRANE (RC CRANE)
TODAY IN CONSTRUCTION SITES,CRANE PLAY A VERY VITAL TASK IN MOVING AND LIFTING HEAVY LOADS FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER.OPERATING A CRANE IS VERY INTERESTING AND DIFFICULT JOB.SO TO GET THAT FEEL,I HAVE DESIGNED A SMALL REMOTE CONTROL CRANE BASICALLY FROM MECHANIX GAME SET THAT I HAD.
MY CRANE HAS TWO FUNCTIONS NAMELY:- 1)LIFTING. 2)ROTATING. TO KNOW ITS CONSTRUCTING METHOD,PLEASE KINDLY HAVE A LOOK TO ALL MY FOLLOWING SLIDES. Step 1: PART 1-ITEMS NEEDED TO BUILD BASE.
THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE:-
1) STEEL BEAM (QUANTITY=1). 2)SMALL STEEL BEAM (QUANTITY=1). 3)VCR MOTOR HEAD (QUANTITY=1). 4) DC MOTOR FROM TAPE RECORDER (QUANTITY=1) 5)MOTOR PULLEY (QUANTITY=1). 6)THICH OR ANY RUBBER BAND (QUANTITY=1) 7)SMALL STEEL ANGLES (QUANTITY=2). 8)SCREWS AND NUTS. 9)TOOLS.
Step 2: BUILDING BASE
TAKE THE VCR MOTOR HEAD AND PLACE IT ON THE SMALL STEEL BEAM AT THE END.MATCH THE HOLES AND FIX BOTH OF THEM TOGETHER WITH SCREWS AND NUTS AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGE ABOVE.
AFTER THAT TAKE A SMALL STEEL ANGLE AND AND FIX ONE ON ONE SIDE AND OTHER ON OTHER SIDE WITH SCREW AND NUT AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGE ABOVE.
Step 3: FINISHING THE FIXING OF BASE PART.
THIS IS HOW THE BASE PART LOOKS AFTER FIXING ALL THE PARTS.
Step 4: FIXING OF MOTOR AT THE BASE.
TO MAKE THE CRANE ROTATE,I HAVE TO FIX A DC MOTOR BELOW THE STEEL BEAM AND FIX IT WITH SCREW AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGE ABOVE.
NOW PUT THE PULLEY IN THE MOTOR SHAFT AND TIGHT THE SCREW OF THE PULLEY SO THAT THE PULLEY REMAINS TIGHTLY FIXED ON SHAFT. AFTER THAT INSERT RUBBER BAND ON PULLEY OF DC MOTOR AND THEN STRETCH IT AND INSERT IT ON THE VCR HEAD MOTOR PULLEY AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGE ABOVE.
Step 5: PART 2-ITEMS NEEDED TO BUILD THE UPPER STRUCTURE.
THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE:-
1)11 HOLES STEEL PLATES (QUANTITY=2). 2) 9 HOLES STEEL PLATES (QUANTITY=2). 3) 7 HOLES STEEL PLATES (QUANTITY=7). 4)5 HOLES STEEL PLATES (QUANTITY=12). 5) 22 HOLES STEEL PLATES (QUANTITY=2). 6)STEEL ANGLES (QUANTITY=2). 7) 5 HOLES STEEL CLAMP(QUANTITY=2). 8) STEEL BEAM(QUANTITY=1). 9)PULLEY (x1),SMALL STEEL ROD (x1),SPACER (x8) 10)SCREWS AND NUTS. 11)TOOLS.
Step 6: FIXING THE ANGLES ON STEEL BEAM
TAKING ONE STEEL ANGLE,FIX IT IN THE EXTREME CORNER OF THE STEEL BEAM WITH SCREWS AND NUTS AND THEN TIGHT IT.
IN THE SAME WAY FIX THE OTHER ANGLE OPPOSITE TO THE FIXED ANGLE WITH SCREWS AND NUTS AND TIGHT IT AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGES ABOVE.
Step 7: BUILDING THE UPPER PART STRUCTURE.
NOW PLACE THE 11 HOLES STEEL PLATES ON THE ANGLE AND FIX IT WITH TWO SCREW AND NUT.SIMILARLY FIX THE OTHER 11 HOLES STEEL PLATE ON THE OTHER ANGLE WITH SCREW AND NUT AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGE ABOVE.
NOW PLACE TWO 5 HOLES STEEL PLATES ON ONE ANOTHER WITH FIXED STEEL PLATES IN BETWEEN THEM AND FIX THEM WITH SCREW AND NUT AND THEN TIGHT THEM.IN SAME WAY FIX TWO 5 HOLES STEEL PLATES ON THE OPPOSITE FIXED STEEL PLATE WITH SCREW AND NUT AS SHOEN IN THE IMAGES ABOVE. PASS THE 9 HOLES STEEL PLATE BETWEEN THE TWO FIXED STEEL PLATE AND FIX IT WITH SCREW AND NUT AND THEN TIGHT IT.IN SAME WAY PASS THE ANOTHER 9 HOLES STEEL PLATES ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF TWO FIXED STEEL PLATES AND TIGHT IT WITH SCREW AND NUT AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGE ABOVE. PLACE TWO 7 HOLES STEEL PLATES WITH FIXED PLATE IN BETWEEN THE TWO PLATES AND FIX IT WITH SCREW AND NUT AND TIGHT IT.IN SAME WAY PLACE THE OTHER 7 HOLES STEEL PLATES ON ANOTHER FIXED PLATE AND FIX IT WITH SCREW AND NUT AND THEN TIGHT IT AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGES ABOVE. AGAIN PLACE 7 HOLES STEEL PLATES BETWEEN THE TWO FIXED STEEL PLATES AND FIX IT WITH SCREW AND NUT AND THEN TIGHT IT.REPEAT THE SAME PROCEDURE ON OPPOSITE SIDE. AGAIN PLACE THE TWO 5 HOLES STEEL PLATE ON ONE ANOTHER WITH FIXED STEEL PLATE BETWEEN THE TWO STEEL PLATES AND FIX IT WITH SCREWS AND NUTS.IN SAME WAY FIX THE ANOTHER 5 HOLES STEEL ON OTHER SIDE WITH SCREW AND NUT AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGES ABOVE.
Step 8: FIXING OF PULLEY AND ADDING RIGIDNESS TO THE STRUCTURE.
IN THE END,I HAVE BEND THE 7 HOLES STEEL PLATE AND PLACED IT BETWEEN THE TWO FIXED STEEL PLATE AND FIXED IT WITH SCREW AND NUT.FIX THE OTHER 7 HOLES STEEL PLATE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE WITH SCREW AND NUT IN THE SAME WAY AS ABOVE.
BUT THE ENTIRE STRUCTURE DIDN'T SEEMED TO LOOK RIGID AND STRONG.SO TO ADD MORE RIGIDITY TO THE STRUCTURE,I FIXED ONE CLAMP IN MIDDLE PORTION ON ENTIRE STRUCTURE AND ANOTHER CLAMP AT THE TOP AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGES ABOVE. AGAIN PLACING THE TWO 5 HOLES STEEL ON THE FIXED STEEL AND FIXING IT WITH SCREWS AND NUTS.IN SAME WAY FIX THE OTHER TWO 5 HOLES STEEL PLATES ON HTE OPPOSITE SIDE WITH SCREW AND NUT AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGES ABOVE. NOW TAKE ONE PULLEY AND PASS IT THROUGH THE HOLE OF STEEL PLATE AND ADD FOUR SPACER IN IT AND THEN ADD PULLEY IN IT.AGAIN ADD FOUR SPACER AFTER PULLEY AND PUSH THE ROD AGAIN IN THE OTHER HOLE OF STEEL PLATE.
Step 9: BACK STRUCTURE.
AFTER FINISHING BUILDING THE UPPER STRUCTURE,I JUST ADDED SOME MORE PARTS AT THE END OF SMALL STEEL BEAM.FIX THE TWO 5 HOLES STEEL PLATES ON STEEL BEAM WITH SCREW AND NUT.FIX THE ANOTHER TWO 5 HOLES STEEL PLATE ON SMALL STEEL BEAM WITH SCREW AND NUT.
AFTER THAT INSERT ONE 22 HOLES BETWEEN THE FIXED STEEL PLATES AND FIX IT WITH SCREW AND NUTS.AGAIN INSERT THE OTHER 22 HOLES STEEL PLATE BEHIND IT AND FIX IT WITH SCREW AND NUT AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGE ABOVE. THIS BEHIND STRUCTURE ALSO GIVES REAL LOOKS LIKE THE ORIGINAL CRANE.
Step 10: ITEMS NEEDED TO FIX UPPER STRUCTURE OF CRANE ON BASE.
THE FOLLOWINGS ITEMS ARE:-
1)TWO SIDE ANGLE (QUANTITY=1). 2)SCREWS AND NUTS. 3)TOOLS. 4)DC MOTOR. 5)SMALL STEEL ROD (x1),PULLEY (x1),3 HOLES STEEL PLATE ANGLE (x2). 6)3 HOLES STEEL PLATE ANGLE (x1). 7) THREAD (1mtr). 8)RUBBER BAND (QUANTITY=1). 9)STOPPER (QUANTITY=1)
Step 11: FIXING THE UPPER STRUCTURE OF CRANE ON VCR MOTOR HEAD.
INSER ONE SCREW THROUGH THE HOLE OF SMALL STEEL BEAM AND PALCE THE TWO SIDE ANGLE ON IT FROM BEHIND AND TIGHT IT WITH NUT.
AFTER THAT INSERT ONE SCREW IN ONE HOLE OF TWO SIDE ANGLE AND OTHER SCREW IN THE OTHER HOLE OF TWO SIDE ANGLE.THEN LIFT THE ENTIRE STRUCTURE AND PLACE THE STRUCTURE ON VCR MOTOR HEAD SUCH THAT THE POSITION OF SCREWS MATCH WITH HOLES ON VCR HEAD MOTOR.THEN TIGHT THE SCREWS IN TO THAT HOLE WITH SCREW DRIVER AS SHOWN IN THE IMAGE ABOVE. NOW THE UPPER STRUCTURE IS PERFECTLY FIXED ON VCR MOTOR HEAD.
Step 12: PART 3-ITEMS NEEDED TO MAKE WINDING MECHANISM.
THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE:-
1)SMALL STEEL ROD (x1),PULLEY (x1),3 HOLES STEEL PLATE ANGLE(x2). 2)3 HOLES STEEL PLATE ANGLE.(x1). 3)DC MOTOR (QUANTITY=1). 4)RUBBER BAND (QUANTITY=1). 5)THREAD( 1 mtr). 6)STAOPPER (QUNTITY=1). 7)SMALL STEEL ANGLE(QUANTITY=2).
Step 13: BUILDING OF WINDING MECHANISM.
TAKE ONE 3 HOLES STEEL ANGLE AND FIX IT ON SMALL STEEL BEAM.FIX THE OTHER STEEL PLATE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE IN THE SAME WAY.NOW PASS THE SMALL STEEL ROD THROUGH THE HOLES OF STEEL PLATE.FIX STOPPER ON ONE SIDE OF SMALL STEEL PLATE AND PULLEY ON THE OTHER SIDE.
NOW TAKE SMALL DC MOTOR AND FIX ONE 3 HOLES STEEL PLATE ON IT WITH SCREW AND NUT.AFTER THAT FIX THE MOTOR ON THE SMALL STEEL BEAM AND THEN INSERT RUBBER BAND ON BOTH THE PULLEY. FIX TWO SMALL STEEL ANGLES ON THE UPPER STRUCTURE AND PASS THE THREAD THROUGH IT.IT KEEPS THE THREAD IN STRAIGHT LINE.
Step 14: PART 4-WIRING CONNECTION.
I GOT THIS R.C CIRCUIT FROM TWO SIMILAR R.C CARS.SO THEIR REMOTE WERE SIMILAR.
THE ONE R.C CIRCUIT OUTPUT CONNECTION IS GIVEN TO MOTOR OF LEFT AND RIGHT FUNCTION.IT IS DRIVEN BY 6V DC ADAPTER. THE OTHER R.C OUTPUT CONNECTION IS GIVEN TO THE MOTOR OF UP AND DOWN FUNCTION.IT IS DRIVEN BY 6V DC BATTERIES.
Step 15: AND YES,IT'S DONE!!!!
YOU CAN EVEN GIVE THIS CRANE A DIFFERENT LOOK.
NOW JUST START LIFTING LOADS FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER WITH REMOTE.
