RC Pinball Using Cardboard

Untitled design (29).png

Pinball games are a type of game in which a ball is thrown into a specially designed machine. We make this puzzle using cardboard and glue gun.

First, we create flippers that provide force to the marble. You move the flippers to make the ball bounce around. Cut 10mm thick wood ply as shown in pic 1 and polish the edge to make a smooth finish. Then, using a drill, make a hole to insert the shaft of the dc motor. Make two flippers, one for the left and one for the right, by replicating this on about two pieces.

I used a large box to make the surface as large as possible. Then, cut 70 cm X 45 cm cardboard and draw a playing field plan. Tape down a skewer on the right side of the box to guide your marble to the top of the box. Determine where you want the flippers to be. Draw Out lane, ball shooter lane, flipper bat. To draw flippers, leave a 2 cm gap between them

Place Flipper Bat

Cut cardboard in the shape of a moving flipper bat as shown in Figure 1. Using a glue gun, adhere the dc motor to the cardboard. Connect the flipper bat to the shaft of the dc motor on the back side of the card board. When we turn on the dc motor, the flipper bat rises

Take two paper pins and connect them with elastic rubber as shown in Figure 1. Then, attach one of the pins to the flipper and the other to the corner of the playing field. The flipper bat is now automatically lowering.

Cut all four sides of the cardboard as shown in the image. The sides should be higher in the front and lower in the back. In my case, one end is 12 cm tall and the other is 18 cm tall.

Make Outlane

I added a guider at the bottom made of curved cardboard to ensure that the ball always fell into the out hole. I also added two curved guiders to the side of the flipper to make the ball move more smoothly.

Create a One Way Shooter Lane

To prevent the ball from falling back in after its initial release, I glued a small piece of plastic to the top of the shooting lane. I also made a marble launching lever out of a rubber band and a skewer. I take a rubber band and wrap it around a short skewer. Then glue a piece of cardboard to the top end, which will be used to push the ball at the start of a game.

I've created some obstacles for things that go on the machine's surface with which the ball interacts:

Boing-ers are rubber bands wrapped around upright skewers that cause the ball to "boing" when it bounces off them.

Spinners have a single attachment point in the centre and spin when the ball strikes them.

The ball can move up and down the track using ramps and slides.

By poking a skewer through the main piece, I created one spinner in the shape of a coronavirus.

I made four boing-ers; you can leave them as is or add a decoration to the top. Simply poke the skewers through, hot glue them in place, and wrap a rubber band around them,

Remote Control

vlcsnap-2022-11-17-12h12m53s107.png

To operate the flipper bat, I'll need to create a single remote control with two push buttons for the right and left DC motors. Cut a piece of cardboard into the shape of a remote control, then glue one side of the remote control to the cardboard. Then, thread two long wire push switches through the remote control cap. Glue this cap to the remote control's casing.

Wiring

vlcsnap-2022-11-17-12h13m07s170.png

Pass the remote control wire through the hole on the back side of the pinball playing field and connect it to the battery and DC motor. When you press the left switch, the left flipper rises and moves the ball around. Because of the elastic rubber, when you release the push button, the flipper automatically lowers. The same will be true for the right flipper.

Enjoy

Then flip the playing field and place a marble in the shooting lane. Pull the shooting lever and release it to send the marble up the shooting lane and past the shooting gate. Now, use the remote control to move the flippers and provide force to the marble when it falls.
