Quick and Easy Workstation

Completely forgot to photo document this build, but I think it's pretty straightforward so I decided to upload it anyway!

Material

  • Wood
  • Angle Iron
  • Dowel

Tools

  • Hammer
  • Cordless drill
  • Dremel (or other rotary tool)
  • Metal file
  • Welder (optional)
  • Angle grinder (optional)
  • Wood glue
  • Nails 'n stuff

Building

I designed this workstation to have an open top box to put materials in. I also wanted to be able to hang some wires/ rolls of tape/ solder on it. So I added the dowels and dowel holders.
The dowels are kept in place by a nail in each end of the dowels.

I started with an angle iron. Cutting a 'V' shape in one of the sides allowed me to bend it 90°. I did this again so that I ended up with a 'U' shape and cut off the excess. I drilled two holes that the solder iron fit in to. I used the file, dremel and an angle grinder to smooth out the edges.

(Optional! I welded the angles together just for looks and stability, this is not necessary though)

I screwed it to the side of the work station at an angle.

Done!

Let's build something!
