To get started, you'll first don your gray outfit. This bland color palate matches the classic color of computer error messages and gives the costume a monotonous vibe. Avoid zippers, print, branding, or anything that catches the eye, as error messages certainly don't.

Creating the Error Message

The quickest way to make the message is by printing out the file below. If you don't have access to a printer, get a piece of paper and a black marker. Write out: "ERROR 404:COSTUME NOT FOUND" in plain font with bold lettering. You can customize it to make it look more like a regular error message, such as adding a warning logo, a minimize, maximize, and close tab in the corner, or a close/wait for the program to resolve button.

Putting on the Message

To complete, we need to display the error message where it can be easily read. Use clear duct tape to attach the message to your chest, running long pieces of tape horizontally across the sign. You can also laminate your sign to keep it pristine and protect it from any spills. If you don't have any duct tape, you can always use a hole puncher to make two holes at the top and wear it around your neck with a piece of string. Once this step is finished, you're ready for any Halloween endeavors. After all, what can be scarier in this day and age than a computer problem?
