Quick and Easy Bath Salt Recipe
Run out of bath salts and need a quick substitute? Here’s a quick and easy recipe using ingredients that you should already have in the kitchen!
Here Is What You’ll Need:
- ½ cup Sea Salt (Or Table Salt) - Sea salt helps stimulate circulation, reduce joint stiffness, ease muscle cramps, sooth itchy skin and aid back pain and arthritis. Simple table salt contains many of the same therapeutic qualities as sea salt, so if you don’t have sea salt you can use the stuff you salt your food with!
- 2 teaspoons of Baking Soda - Baking Soda makes bathwater silkier while adding more of those skin-loving minerals. If you don’t have any baking soda on hand you can simply omit it.
- 5-10 drops of Essential Oils - I know that not everyone has a menagerie of essential oils hanging out in the cabinet, so instead you could use the freshly-squeezed juice of a lemon, orange, or pineapple for a really fresh citrusy scent. Using these fresh fruit juices won’t have as many benefits of essential oils but they’ll do in a pinch. If that isn’t an option either but you feel like you’re missing out, try adding ½ teaspoon of melted Coconut Oil as an extra skin moisturizer.
- Dry Ingredients (Optional) - Now saunter up to the kitchen cabinetry and extract your choice of dry additive! You could use as many or as few as you like.
Here’s some ingredients that you may have to choose from and wish to add:
- 1-2 cups Oatmeal (Soothing)
- 2-4 tea bags of your choice of Tea (Scent/Antioxidant)
- 1-3 teaspoons of Matcha or Green Tea Powder (Scent/Antioxidant)
- 1-4 tablespoons of Coffee Grounds (Scent/Brightens Dull Skin)
- 1-3 tablespoons of Peppermint (Scent/Soothing)
- 1-3 tablespoons of Rosemary (Scent/Soreness)
- 1-3 tablespoons of Yarrow (Astringent)
Putting It All Together
- Blend all the dry ingredients.
- Slowly mix in the wet.
- Bag, jar, or toss directly into the tub!
Note
*When using fresh ingredients such as fresh herbs or fruit juices, you should use the bath salts immediately or within 24 hours. If you don’t, the ingredients may mold. For a longer-lasting bath salt, use ONLY dry ingredients and essential oils.*
