Quick-Release System for a Paracord Shotgun Sling
Have you ever wished, while either hunting, walking in the woods, or just plain shooting that you could quickly detach your sling, without messing with unscrewing your mounts or un-clamping them? Well if you're anything like me, you hate having something nice that helps hold your shotgun on your shoulder, that then becomes a nuisance later. So I decided to try and make a device that lets you detach your sling in under 10 seconds. What came out is rugged, tactical looking and functional. Since this tutorial is on how to make a quick release system only, I will assume you already know how to make a sling out of paracord. The only thing you will need to do is make sure you have two HK style clips on each end of the sling. I will hopefully create an Instructable on how I made the sling as well. Thank you for taking a look at this Instructable and enjoy!

What You Will Need...
(1) 550 paracord sling, with HK style clips on each end.
(2) 2 sling attachment points, that will fit your rifle/shotgun.
(3) 2 D-Rings.
(4) About a foot of nylon strip, that will fit in your sling attachment point.
(5) A cigarette lighter.
(6) A needle and thread.
Cutting and Prepping Your Nylon
First, you'll want to cut your nylon strips into two sections of about 3 inches. They can be longer if you would like a little more room to work with, but I like to keep it as short as possible so that when my sling is detached, I don't have long nylon straps hanging from my shotgun. When your strips are cut, lightly melt the cut edges with a cigarette lighter so that it doesn't begin to unravel.
Lining Up the Nylon on Your Clips
First, put the nylon through the clips as shown on picture 1. Next, fold both side over each other, but going opposite ways (2). Once one side is folded, sew it and then do the other. I find it best to make sure the two sides overlap, that way once you have the individual sides stitched, you can run extra thread between all 3 strips, making it a lot stronger and you will use less thread. You can see what I mean on picture 2 and 3.
You're Basically Done!
All you need to do now is to attach your clips the the rifle/shotgun, attach sling and see how much easier this little system makes quickly removing your sling when it gets in the way. To attach, simply clip the HK clip unto the D-Ring. Here are a few more pictures of the finished product.
Thanks for checking this out, and I hope that this Instructable was helpful.
