Put Together Abacus

Welcome. Today we're building a Put Together Abacus. If you are unaware, and abcus is a toy that helped you count. Further more, the following steps will show you how to construct the item. Not only will this toy help in math, but since it is put together (building blocks basicly) it encourages creativity and play. I am using TinkerCad for this activity.

Drag a cylinder to the workspace.

Make the cylinder 20mm wide and 20mm long. After that make the cylinder 6mm tall.

Drag another cylinder to the workplace.

Change the dimentions of the cylinder to 3mm wide and 3mm long. Then make the new cylinder 60mm high.

With both cylinders on the workplace, Aline them. Press both bottom middle circles. Afterwards group the two shapes.

So far your design should look like this.

Press the duplicate buttom at the top of the screen. While holding shift move it over 7 times.

Shocker, drag another cylinder to the workplace, but make it a hole

Make the hole cylinder 2mm wide and 2mm long. Then make it 70mm tall.

After that, turn the cylinder 90 degrees as shown.

Aline the cylinder and the base of the toy.

Duplicate the cylinder and move it upwards some.

Duplicate it again, but move it down some.

Group all of thouse shapes together and boom you are done with your base.

Moving on to the cylinders that the beads for the abcus to go through. Put a cylinder on the workplace, make it 1.50mm wide and 1.50mm long. Then make it 70mm tall.

Duplicate it twice. All done with those.

Onto making the beads for the Abcus. Put a cylinder on the workplace and make it a hole. Then make it 2.50mm wide and 2.50mm long. After that make over 12mm tall. (I made it 50, but as long as it is over 12mm tall your good.) And duplicate it 3 times, you are goning to need it for your other beads.

Grab a sphere. Make it 9-9-9mm all directions.

With both, cylinder and sphere, aline them. Both bottom middle circles.

After alining them mover the sphere up a little.

Group those shapes. Bam a bead. Now, Duplicate it twice, you will need 3 of each bead.

Grab another cylinder. Make it 9mm-9mm-9mm in all directions.

Grab one of you hole cylinder. With both cylinders, aline them. Bottom middle circles. Then move the smaller cylinder up some.

Group those bad boys.

Put a square on the workplace. Make it 7mm wide, 7mm long, and 7mm tall.

Put a square on the workplace. Make it 7mm-7mm-7mm in all directions.

With another one of the hole cylinders, aline it with the square. Move the square up some.

Group the shapes and duplicate it twice. Now there should be 3.

Right into it. Drag a polygon onto the workplace. Make it 12mm-12mm-12mm in all directions.

With your last cylinder, aline the two shapes. Move the polygon up a little. Then group them. You know what to do after that, duplicate it twice so you have 3.

Feel free to customise the shapes. By making them different colors, or if you want making the entire thing bigger. Thank you for participating enjoy your new toy.
