Punisher Pumpkin

The Punisher is a vigilante superhero in the Marvel Comics. Recently, the Punisher skull has been adopted as the unofficial unit patch for many in the military. Anyway, I like the look of the skull and thought it would be a make an interesting jack-o-lantern design.

Since I have very little artistic ability, I pulled a template from the web. I added dots to the template which are guides for drilling. I painted the pumpkin flat black and then painted the skull white by following the dots (drill holes). Light shines through the holes at night to show the outline.

Tools:

• Knife
• Dremel Tool or Drill
• Printer/Template
• Scissors

Materials:

• Pumpkin
• Tape
• Paint (black and white)

Find or draw a punisher skull. I added dots in MS Word so I wouldn’t have to think when drilling the holes. Scale the image to match the size of your pumpkin. I had a fairly large pumpkin so the picture took up most of a 8.5x11 piece of paper. Cutting out a rough outline helps when attaching the rectangular shape to a round pumpkin.

Center template on the nicest side of the pumpkin. Secure to pumpkin with tape.

I used a Dremel tool to drill 1/8” diameter holes. Remove template and clean up any mess with a towel.

Paint the entire pumpkin black.

Cut out the top of the pumpkin and remove the guts. Scrape the layer around the drill holes and verify that none are blocked. Paint the skull white with a small brush. You can use the drill holes as a guide.

Add a candle or tea lights
