Pumpkin Fest No-Sew Blanket

Greetings! If you're looking to make a festive, fall blanket without sewing, you made it! I started my journey with no-sew blankets a few years back and the moment I tried I was hooked. I couldn't stop making these for every occasion, Christmas, Halloween, summer, You name it!

So the blanket I've made this time is centered around a nice Halloween pumpkin, I made this because Halloween is my favorite holiday and it's perfect for the chilly fall weather. To cozy up on the couch with a cup of tea and read a book, that's the dream, and this blanket is the cherry on top.

Supplies

The Supplies Needed:

  1. 2 yards of dark green fleece fabric
  2. 2 yards of orange fleece fabric
  3. Fabric scissors
  4. A ruler

And if you'd like, Halloween decor to spice things up!

First, you're going to find the duller side of each fabric. You can do this by finding the sides that have less color. Next, you line the duller sides of each fabric up the corners that way they're hidden.

After the dull sides are hidden and the fabrics are laid out on a flat surface, you're going to take the ruler and measure the edges of the corner about 4 1/2 inches out each and cut slits another 4 1/2 inches up

When you're done with that, you're going to connect the slits until you have cut a square of fabric out.

It's okay if the cuts aren't perfectly even, They almost never are.

Next, you'll cut slits next to the square on one side that matches the height of the square, you'll continue this down the side of the fabric. Each slit can be about two fingers wide apart. Again, these won't be completely even and that's alright, they'll be fixed later on.

You can repeat these slits as much as it takes until you reach another corner.

If you notice while you're cutting that the slits seem too short to tie, you may cut higher to even them out that way you don't struggle later while tying them together.

Once you've reached the other corner, you're going to repeat the process of cutting a square, except this time you already have one part of it cut, so all you need to do it go to the other side, measure 4 1/2 inches out from the corner and then cut 4 1/2 inches upwards.

When that's complete, you once again cut until each slit meets the other.

Just like step three, you'll continue cutting slits upwards on this side of the fabric until you reach the corner.

You'll do this until all sides of the fabric are cut with slits and with the squares cut on each corner

Once you have cuts slits on every side of the fabric. You're ready to tie the slits together! Because you have two fabrics over each other, you can tie them together to create the blanket. All you have to do is tie the slits together like you're tying a shoe. It is good to double knot them to prevent them from coming apart.

When you tie the slits near the corners they can be difficult as they pull the blanket tighter.

You'll continue tying all the slits together into knots. I like to tie them in a way where the colors match up on each side, that way it doesn't look too random. But you may tie them however you'd like!

As you go along, you can trim the excess of the knots so they're even. This pulls the look of it together. If you find that the blanket is clumpy and in your way as you're tying, you can stretch it out to loosen it. It'll sound scary like you're ripping the fabric but it's okay. You'll also do this at the end to complete the blanket anyway.

Just continue tying the knots all around until there are no more slits, only knots!

At this point, your blanket is probably clumped up and looking more like a circle, that's completely fine. The last step for this blanket is simple. You take the blanket and stretch out the fabric, it'll sound like you're ripping it, but if you don't pull too hard you're all good.

Now you have a comfy pumpkin blanket! Go enjoy the fall weather and Halloween!!
