Pumpkenstein - the Candy Dispenser

Dare you press on one of Pumpkensteins screws?

Make your own candy pumpkin dispenser. It's a fun and easy instructable, but do be careful when carving that scary face! I challenge you to make this even better by adding two or more pumpkins on top of each other and making sure there is a lot of candy for every trick-or-treater. :)

For the pumpkin:

• Carving set
• Knife
• Whiteboard marker or a non-permanent marker
• Cutting board
• Potato peeler (to remove the pumpkin peel if necessary)
• Fairy lights

Optional: screws, stapler, clay to make a tongue etc.

For the dispenser

• Cardboard
• Rubber bands
• Toothpicks
• Hot glue
• Ruler
• Scissors/cutting knife

and of course candy!

A good pumpkin shape for this project would have a bit elongated shape rather than round.

1. Draw the pumpkin face with the whiteboard marker.

2. Start by removing the insides

3. Start carving the face.

Be careful!

1. Start off by measuring the inside of the pumpkin.
2. See the second photo for the measurements of the different parts of the dispenser. (The longer A-piece is not really needed to be longer than the other 3 A pieces. The dispenser is not too heavy and can be held in place by toothpicks, no leg support is needed).

3.Glue the all the A pieces together to get a pyramid shaped object

4. Glue the B pieces together with B2 in the middle. The whole is where the screw will be anchored.

5. Add one toothpick in the A part, and the second in the B part. Make sure to put the toothpicks at a distance at which the rubber band will be relaxed. Secure toothpicks with glue.

6. Do the same on the other side. Here I had to cut out a whole in the longer A-piece, but if you make all A-pieces the same length you just have to repeat step 5 above.

7. When you push on part B, the rubber bands should stretch = dispensers opens, and when you let go, part B should slide back to its original position closing the dispenser.

8. If needed, add one more rubber band holding part A and part B together, but not inhibiting the sliding movement of part B.

9. Starts by placing the dispenser first and secure it with toothpicks.

10. Measure where the screw should be placed to fit into the B2 piece.

11. Add some kind of tube in the pumpkin where the screw goes through. This can be anything I used a pen.

12. Put candy in the dispenser and decorate with fairy lights!
