Pulse Shirt - LED - Arduino NANO

Sin título-1.jpg

This project has been carried out by three students of the Degree in Industrial Design of ELISAVA, in the subject of Academic Uses in specific terminology in English I.

It has been called Pulse Shirt - Led - Lilypad , consists of a smart shirt that measures heart rate, through a Heart Rate Monitor it can measure the heart rate of the person who wears the shirt. Also it has a light circle that changes the color with your pulse. Users to wear this shirt:

- Professional athlete who wants to monitor your heart rate.

- Person with cardiovascular problems.

To indicate the high pulsations, the shirt incorporates vibrators located around the shirt that notice an increase in heart rate.

LilyPad: Simplify arduino that can be used on clothes, it is more tiny and light than the original Arduino UNO. Also you can connect the conductive thread without any pin, olny with one knot.

Vibrators (x3): Simple device that vibrate with electric current.

Heart Rate Monitor: Device that can do the electrocardiogram of our pulse. It shows the spikes on the graph of the heart pulse.

Shirt: Neoprene t-shirt fitted, it has to be fitted so that the patches that detect the heart rate will be more effectively engaged because it will be more attached to the body.

Conductive Thread (10 m): To sew on the shirt, this transfers power to all components passing over the LilyPad. Allows a comfort over the shirt that normal wires do not allow because his geometry and thickness.

Copper tape (0.1 m): Dry heart detector, it can be used without tape and glue. It allows the conductive thread to transfere the pulse.

You have at your disposal the code of this project. You only have to download at the link bellow and run it into the Arduino UNO software; you have to connect your lilypad with the code, then let's assembly all the components.

Attatch the Arduino NANO

IMG20191212160609.jpg

First of all you have to put the Arduino NANO on the t-shirt. You will attatch this device at the bottom back of the t-shirt. Make a knot in the pin of the Arduino NANO and cross the t-shirt to attatch it.

You have this descriptive drawing to know where you have to put the Arduino NANO.

Sew the T-shirt

To sew the t-shirt you will need a spire. To sew all the circuit you have to do a specific type of seam, this is required to avoid a short circuit in your circuit.

Let's see how it works.

Now you can copy the seam of this picture bellow to make the t-shirt circuit.

Make the Electrodes

IMG20191212160539.jpg

To make the electrodes you will have the Copper tape, and three jumpers.

Before to make it let's see how electrodes works.

The electrodes are placed on each side of the heart to receive the pulse. The distance from the two electrodes to the heart should be the same; if they are closer to the heart, they will receive a better quality of pulsation.
The third electrode can be placed anywhere else, this serves to have a reference.

First you have to cut three pieces of copper tape; these shoud be the same size.

Now, to make the electrodes you will have to weld each piece of tape to one jumper.

Attatch All the Components

To finish the project you have to attatch all the other devices to the t-shirt.

You have a diagram to see how it should be attatch.

Functioning
By combining all the above components you can explain and understand how the system works. Each component has a specific function to perform. Thanks to the code previously developed and applied between the ArduinoNano board the system will already know how to work. With Inputs, readers of information that collect data, to process them after we have them; the tires of coure in charge of detecting the electric poles will be sent to the Heart Rate Monitor to later be treated in the Arduino plate. The data obtained are totally constant, the plate is filled with the information captured to each second and in this way it will use some output to generate a signal, light or vibration. In this way it is possible to have a better security in a constant way when carrying out a physical exercise.

Conclusion In this work you have a freedom of decision, within the proposed theme, to realise each group their idea, which has motivated you to realise the project with more wins. The theme will begin with a debate from the end to the point at which we consider the application of technology in people, a theme that is totally ambiguous and with many points of view and aspects to deal with. By means of these ideas and the knowledge acquired through the classes we have created a system totally personalized for our idea. To the extent that we advance in our work, we have learned to use components that, so as not to have seen and understood their function.
