Peel, Core, Slice

First let's preheat our oven to 400 F. or (204 C) Then let's take our washed and dried apples and peel them, then core them, then first cut them in quarters, next slicing them into 1/8th to 1/16th of an inch thick. You can really make them whatever thickness you want, just don't make them too thick.

Unroll It and Score It

Now we take out our puff pastry, I am just using a store bought one, and unroll it and place on a baking sheet lined with a silicon mat or parchment paper. Then using a knife and come in about 1/2 to 1 inch from the edge and score the puff pastry all around. Don't cut all the way through the pastry. This allows the pastry to puff up around the inside where the apples will be. It also acts as a guide for the apple slices.

Apples, Sugar, Butter, Bake

Now we lay our apple slices down, using the scored line as our guide. We overlap the slices a little bit. It usually will wind up being three lines of apples. Then take your sugar and dust the tops of the apples, followed by about 3 to 4 Tablespoons worth of cubed butter. Now it is time to bake. Bake the tart at 400 F or 204 C for 25 minutes.

Honey It Up

Now after 25 minutes remove the tart from the oven and heat up a bit of honey in the microwave for about 10 seconds. Next baste it on the tops of the apples. If you don't want to use honey you can use jelly or marmalade, just heat that up in the microwave for a few seconds. Put the tart back in the oven for 5 more minutes. Which equals a total baking time of 30 minutes. Make sure to check the box that your puff pastry comes in, you can follow the baking guide on that as well. Now after taking the tart out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes.

Sugar, Cut, Enjoy

Next we top the pastry with powdered sugar (confectioner's), then cut it with a pizza roller or knife and serve it up. I usually get about 9 servings from this. Enjoy!
