Protecing Paint From Freezing

Have an unheated shop or garage?  Want to keep your paint or welding rod warm and dry?  Use an old refrigerator!  You don't have to remove the compressor or the freon, just leave the unit as is and instal a incandescent light bulb of 40w or less hooked up to an old wall thermostat in the bottom.  When the temperature inside the unit drops below what you have set it to the light comes on.  Keep it set a 65-70 if you want your paint preheated and ready to use or set it to as low as it will go, normally 50, just to keep things fluid.  On the side-by-side I use one side is kept warmer than the other.  I keep the glue, caulking, putty and at a lower temp on one side and the latex warmer on the other.
