Prosthetic Hand
As a high school senior who wants to study biomedical engineering, I designed a 3D prosthetic hand using SolidWorks.
Supplies
The only tool I used for this design is SolidWorks.
I first designed two finger segments as well as a finger knuckle segment. I assembled them using flexible joints that allow bending and rotation. Then, I created four copies of this finger assembly.
Then, I created a palm/hand and made four holes in it with spacing that matches realistic prosthetics. I assembled each finger segment to the palm, jointing with flexibility allowed for realistic bending.
Finally, I designed two thumb segments and a thumb knuckle segment. I assembled them together with joints that allow flexible bending and rotation. I assembled this to the final palm/hand segment, also allowing flexible bending that matches realistic prosthetic design.
