Product Isometric Drawing Stencil

4.png
  • This is a very simple but innovative stencil i came up with, which helps to draw workshop drawings quickly by hand.
  • 3D drawings or isometric drawings are used to prepare mechanical prototypes of a design. This tool helps with that.
  • If you want to develop an engineering mind for drawing you have to be good at visual representations in 3D .

-Example: to draw an object in 3d view, we cannot use plain front or side views. you need to see the object from a high angle. This exposes multiple faces of the object. So with just one view, we can imagine its shape. The lines will be at an angle of 30 degrees. this is how proper engineering drawings are also made. Hence i made this tool. It makes drawing from imagination quick. Scale and print the stencil as per your liking.

  • 3d drawings, mechanical prototypes. Ideal for civil, architectural, and engineering hand sketches.
  • Speed up your sketching process.
  • Nice tool to have in workbenches, engineering drawing semester exams.
  • Note: the ratio of actual length to isometric length is 0.816 as per cosine formulas.
  • Use the ellipse to draw a circle in projection view.
  • Great for professionals and beginners.
  • CNC / 3d print prototyping.
  • Scalable 3d printable model.

Tutorial

  • Say there are these images of the three sides of a product and we have to draw a 3D model so we can approximate its shape.
  • In isometric views, you will notice that the straight lines get converted into lines at 30 degrees from the horizontal. This is where the stencils will come in use.
  • A circular opening will also become an ellipse as marked in the stencil.

Final Words

Its a very simple and a new item not present before as far as I know. It may help artists and designers to draw items in 3d. Hope you liked it. Hit the "favourite" button if you want to support simple and useful items like this.
