Print Small Patterns Without a Printer
Have you ever wanted to make a small sewing project, perhaps a hand sewn soft toy, or a bag for your phone or tablet, but been unable to access a printer to print the pattern.
I had this problem when i wanted to make some felt magnetic letters, so this is what I did.
You will need:
- The pattern you want to print.
- Paper
- Pencil or Pen
- A screen like the one you are viewing this on. The larger the screen is the easier it will be, But I have done this on my phone too.
- ruler (optional)
- bluetack or tape (optional)
Brighten Screen and Get Pattern Ready
Turn the brightness up all the way on your screen.
Open your pattern and make sure it is the right size and scale.
If it is a PDF with a sized box on it make sure the box measures the correct size on the screen.
Many small projects can be made smaller or larger without problem, but not all of them.
Trace Onto Paper
Trace the pattern onto the paper.
If you are using a touchscreen device, be careful not to re-size your pattern as you draw.
It is not needed but it can be useful to blue tack or tape the paper down to keep it still and help you keep your fingers off the device while drawing.
Slide Paper and Pattern to Complete
When you have drawn everything on the screen, slide the image while sliding the paper with it to access the rest of the pattern.
To do this on a computer or laptop, use your mouse to grab and pull pattern and to mark the part of the pattern you have already drawn.
To do this on a Touch screen device, hold the device still without touching the screen or paper, then use one finger on top of the paper to move both the paper and the pattern at the same time.
Repeat the last two steps until you have completed your pattern, then Enjoy your Pattern!
