Pringles Can Safe

For a friends birthday I made him a pringles can safe. You basically cut the bottom out of a pringles can, put in a platform a couple inches from the bottom, put some type of storage device on the bottom lid, and put the bottom back on. You can get it out with a flathead screwdriver or a magnet. It works good for storing anything small and has great potential for a gift, or just to keep for yourself.

Gather Materials

You will need:

A pringles can
Can opener
Duct tape
Hot glue
Cardboard (or can with diameter just smaller than the pringles container)

You are all set!

Take out chips. (I have no picture because I ate them first.)    :)

Remove Bottom

With a can opener carefully open bottom of can. Don't cut your self and try not to leave any noticeable marks on the outside of the can. Put off to side.

Create Platform

Make a square out of duct tape (put cardboard in middle if you want) bigger than the diameter of the can. Then, cut out a circle of the exact diameter of the bottom lid. Push it up the can a couple inches (or as tall as the other can you have) and hot glue it in place.

If you have another can you can skip this step. Cut out a small cardboard rectangle and fold it into a square as large as one can fit on the bottom of the can without going over the edge. Duct tape it into a square and hot glue it to the lid. Make sure the date faces down.

You only have to do this step if you have another can. Glue bottom of can to the bottom of the pringles can. Sorry I have no picture for this step, I did it the other way.

Put your valuables you want to hide in the can, cardboard or not, and push it into the bottom of the can. (Picture 1) If it falls out pound the edges of the can bottom flat. You can get it out by prying it out with a flat head screwdriver or by using a magnet. The last step is to put the chips back in so it doesn't look suspicious.  :)
