Preparing Sauerbraten

My Sauerbraten recipe made it into the finals of the Canning and Pickling Contest, hence I want to show you how to prepare it. The beef was marinated for more than a month and flipped every day.

Ingredients:

• Sauerbraten
• Shallots (2)
• Carrots (5)
• Red wine (100ml)
• Butter


This is for one serving, adjust to the size of your Sauerbraten.

• Casserole (Cocotte)
• Pan


Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 180ºC/ 350ºF Dice the shallots and sweat them in the pan for 3 minutes. Add the Sauerbraten and roast gently on all sides. Pour the wine into the pan.

Place everything into the casserole. Add some carrots and close the casserole. After 30 minutes in the oven, turn the Sauerbraten over and let it roast for another 15 minutes. Cut the beef to test if its well done.

Serve with dumplings or mashed potatoes. Enjoy your meal!
