Predator Vs. Prey

Game board finished for Instructables.PNG

I designed a board game in which there is a predator and a prey. It is a two person game. If you are the predator you have to create a series of numbers 1-6 using 4 of the numbers. The prey has to guess the number series in 10 guesses or less. Then once the prey guesses the number series, you switch positions. In the end, the person who guessed the other person's number series in the least amount of guesses wins.

Supplies

For this project, I had to use wood, acrylic paint, hinges, a lock, and a handle. I used the wood to create the board and the paint to make it colorful and creative. The hinges would be so the board could fold in half and the lock would help the board stay closed so you could carry it by the handle.

Cutting Wood

To build the board we first had to start by cutting a piece of wood which was 1.5 ft by 1.5 ft. then we had to cut all of the edge trim pieces so we could nail them into each other. I used a table saw to cut the wood for the big pieces of wood and then I used a nail gun to nail them together.

Painting Board

I painted the board green for the grass and brown for the desert. I added a river in the grass. I made sure to blend the paint well in the middle so it wasn't splotchy. I used acrylic paint on the wood.

Hinges and Handle

After the paint dried, we had to screw on the hinges so the board game would fold in half and screw on the handle so we could carry it. The latch also had to get screwed on because we need the latch to lock so we can carry the board game by the handle and make it more efficient.

Squares

Once I had the board made and all, I had to draw the squares on it so that people could know where to place the tiles. I angled the squares so they curved on the board.

3D Designing

Through this project, I had to create this game board on a 3D modeling website along with my in person work. It was hard and frustrating at times but persevering helped me push through. I loved learning how to work more in depth with 3D modeling. I had to make a lot of cuts and measurements along with a lot of movement of the squares.
