Powering My Piano From a USB Battery Pack.

I bought an excellent little digital piano, the CASIO CT-S1 which can be powered by 6 x AA type batteries. That allows you to play in any places, even far from a 220vac / 110vac outlet. But the drawback is : the battery life time is relatively short !

So I decided to create a circuit / cable to power my piano from a USB power bank and significantly increase the autonomy.

Supplies

bill of material:

- buck converter -> https://www.ebay.fr/itm/173410051726?hash=item28600b668e:g:0I0AAOSwUxhbSV3q

- a cable with a USB male plug.

- a power jack and a 2-conductor cable

- a TicTac® box to house the circuit ;-)

Strip the USB cable and tin the red and black wires.

Connect the USB cable to the converter terminals like this:

IN + -> red wire

IN- -> black wire

Solder the power jack onto the 2-conductor cable.

Connect the other end to the following terminals:

OUT + -> center of power jack

OUT - -> on the ground of the jack / outside

Connect the USB plug to the USB power bank.

With a voltmeter set to a 20vcc range and measure

the voltage on the OUT + and OUT- terminals of the converter.

Using a precision screwdriver, adjust the converter potentiometer

to obtain 9.5vdc ( this is the tension required for my Casio CT-S1 ). Then just connect the jack to the power socket on the piano. All you have to do is playing freely ;-)
