Possibilities of Fimo Werkplaats IDC
This Instructable was created to show the possibilities of Fimo clay.
Fimo is a polymer clay. The material comes in many different colors. Once shaped, Fimo is baked in a standard oven for about 30 minutes at 110 °C. Once baked, it can be cut, drilled, painted, sanded, and sliced thinly.
There Are 5 Types of Fimo clay: Fimo classic, Fimo Soft, Fimo Effects, Fimo kids, Fimo professional.
Preheating the Oven
Preheat the oven to 110 °C. (See figure)
Making the Fimo Soft
Make the clay soft and sculpting-ready.
The best way is to knead the clay firmly.
Modelling
Model the clay into the desired shapes.
TIP Use everyday objects (rolling pin, knives, ...) in order to edit the Fimo-clay.
If you wish to confirm clay on for example steel wire, it is possibe to model it before placing it in the oven.
Baking
Place the baking dish with Fimo creations in the preheated oven.
110 °C - 30 min
Cooling Down
After 30 minutes the Fimo creations are ready to cool down.
Finishing
Further finish is possible if you wish.
There are different kinds of Fimo accessories that can be used here.
For a smoother surface the baked-clay can be wetted and sanded.
If you want a glossy coating on the clay, you can do this with varnish.
TIP The baked Fimo-clay can be confirmed afterwards on other surfaces, with superglue.
